Some bullies stop as soon as they get told off. But some won't care and so you have to get them in trouble so much they get expelled. Some schools such as my old school have a no-expelling policy (so that they don't get sued for "depriving the child of their education"). My old school once made an exception to this and expelled a very violent student who put someone in hospital and punched me 6 times in the head. Unfortunatley she got a court order saying because of her "anger problems" it "wasn't her fault" and so she came back to the school. If she was a dude I would fight back, but fighting is the last resort.

i agree with knifewrench fighting is a last resort and it always helps to learn a few self defense rules first!

i am really grateful that the school that i went to was really tame and so most bullies were all talk anyways

I'd always try to ignore them if possible, and telling a teacher was generally useless because they wouldn't believe you unless they actually witnessed it. Same thing with their parents.
I think several of the bullies I dealt with while growing up are the reason that I had such a negative image of myself and felt so insecure. The verbal stuff can leave scars longer than some of the physical abuse.

It's a myth that bullies pick on weak people. Most bullies are insecure and jealous and will do anything to bring down people who they think are confident or clever.

Standing up to them is great in theory but in practice it does nothing. It just makes them more spiteful.

I used to try arguing back, but they just tell you to shut up and get over it. then they say, "God, you're always GETTING at me." trying to turn the situation round basically.

The best thing to do is remember you won't be around these people forever and that nothing they say to you is of any value at all, not if they're going to be that nasty about it. They're just a bunch of idiotic kids who need to get over themselves. They wouldn't pick on you if they weren't jealous.

It is unfair about the way guys are treated if they hit back in reaction to the girl/women hitting them first, because personally i think that should be allowed. But the reason guys get a criminal record for hitting a girl/women(first i'm talking about) and women won't, is because generally, GENERALLY, guys are much stronger than girls.
I mean it isn't like this in SOME cases but in MOST if a guy started beating up a women, if it was one on one, there's not much she could do about it.

But i mean girls/women can still get charged especially with domestic abuse now, if it shown a women is hitting her husband she gets a criminal record for assualt or GBH depending on how bad the damage is. But even then it is alot rarer for a wife to be hitting her husband, than it is for a husband to be hitting his wife.

i hate it when people say that "bullies are insecure" yeah right! bullies are arrogant, confident idiots who bully to get pleasure purely because they can!

Some bullies might be like that but I've never met any. I've met a lot of bullies who pick on people they think are cleverer or prettier than them (I'm not referring to myself here, I'm not that vain--just generally their victims were people they were jealous of.)

I don't mean they're unhappy or that we should feel sorry for them--they sure as hell don't deserve that much. It's just that their choice of victims tends to be people they're jealous of. Simply because they are depressive and angsty and bitter and can't get over themselves and enjoy their own life, therefore instead they resort to making everyone else's less enjoyable.

first ignore them but if they still persist report them (just for the record) then if nothings change i guess its time to fight back...
atleast in this case there's no chance for them to creat stories and put all the blame on you.

What I did with some one that wanted to bully me was fight with words so I could bring his self steam down

believe me it works just find what the bully is afraid of what wierd stuff they make and all this you can find it by looking at his face when something comes up if he makes a face like he is not listening, there is your chance

One instance a girl came up to be and said something, i could not help but laugh and it pissed her off to the point where she walked off and never said anything else to me, lol. Some people you can crack mentally with stupid little mind games, others it's better to tell a teacher, you may look like a wimp but it'll stop all problems with that person.

I have delt with my fair share of bullies and when people say they prey on the weak it's a lie!
I endt up having to tell a teacher because the girl kicked me and ran away. I used it as a last resort because the girl got violent...I tried to stand up for myself but it's kind of hard when the person calls you a name and then runs out of the room before you realise what they said...

its what i do. dont bother telling a teacher, they just say "work it out" or they punish the bully and afterwards it just gets worse, teachers and adults don't help they dont know anything dont listen to them but by the way, fighting back could hurt... LOTS. maybe you should just turn their insults back on them in a humorous way that almost always works... maybe.

i haven't ever been bullied so i dont really know what its like, i would probably tell a teacher and try to get it sorted

one of my best friends is being bullied right now but she dosn't go to my school and all the people on bebo are really nice to her saying things like 'best friends forever' and 'i will always be there for you hun' - but there not, at school they all hate her and its horrible! she told her teachers and all they have done is taken her out of her lessons and put her in isolation! (sp?)
i wish i could be there for her more but she is in the year below me and at a different school, so when she is at cheerleading with me i try to act more happier and as hyperer so she dosnt miss out on having fun! ♥

I used to get bullied at school but I soon learn't to hit back quickly. They used to call me names and threaten me but I also attempted suicide a few times but afterwards I learned that the only way to get them off my back was to fight back. I waited until after school and when they were in a group I foolishly confronted them and it turned into a brutal fight but I managed to survive even though I showed them.. how to completly knock the shit out of me so I waited til they were all alone and one by one took them on that way and managed to get thm to leave me alone so fighting back can work.

At first, ignore them. But if it gets worse you should stand up for yourself by saying a comeback, and then go tell an adult.

Knock the shit out of them! There is no telling them to stop. You shouldn't have been picking on me to begin with. In my experiance, ignoring a bully and not reacting to them only makes them think you won't stand up to them. So they get worse, and eventually you can't stand up to them anymore.

Depending on exactly what the problem is, of course. Sometimes, ignoring them will solve the problem. Other times it may be necessary to tell someone (I sympathise that this can be difficult, but sometimes it is the best option). But a lot of the time, it's worth challenging them on their hurtful remarks. I find that the majority of bullies share a common weakness; lack of logic.

In other words: Curse at dem or knock the fuck outta dem.

(Or both.)
