I always thought the ones in series 2 and 3 were rather for someone with higher status like a servant.
so she did grow ,)

I can imagine her being the keeper of the keys, the housekeeper, although people seem to walk in and out of the castle and in and out of the rooms without keys. Perhaps she's having locks installed :)
It's a trusted position so everyone puts great trust in her.
I must say that I'm glad the sack cloth dresses are no more.
