My Life in France سے طرف کی Julia Child with Alex Prud'homme
آپ must know Julia Child سے طرف کی name if not سے طرف کی reputation. The cook of all cooks. The woman who revolutionized American household kitchens; she entered the ہوم سے طرف کی TV and left us groaning, having just gorged on prodigious French food. But that really isn't her, Julia Child declares, in her book. My Life in France is an amazing, humanizing potrait of Julia Child as we peek into her life before fame and (can آپ belive it?) her life before she could cook (she claims that she was horrible in the باورچی خانے, باورچی خانہ before moving to France and attended cooking classes). The best thing about this book, besides its wonderful writing? The idea that آپ can become a master when آپ are older; that a skill doesn't have to be innate, it can be learnt.

A Chef's Life: In تلاش of the Perfect Meal سے طرف کی Anthony Bourdain
Written سے طرف کی "bad boy" chef Anthony Bourdain, A Cook's Tour: In تلاش of the Perfect Meal will provoke envy and jealousy when آپ read about how he gets paid to travel the world (Barcelona, Vietnam, Russia, etc.), experience out-of-this-world meals and then write about it, all the while thumbing his nose as us unlucky tied-to-the-office civilians. Bourdain's prose is refreshingly vulgar without being unnecessarily obscene; he savors wonderfully awkward experiences and provides purely-classic side notes that will mark آپ bark out laughter (for my favorite, see below). Only for readers who would be willing to, with Bourdain, drink snake wine.

[Upon describing how oysters change sexes from year-to-year.]
"If آپ were tell an oyster 'Go f**k yourself,' it would probably not be offended".

Plenty : one man, one woman, and a raucous سال of eating locally سے طرف کی Alisa Smith and J.B. MacKinnon
This is a book I discovered first سے طرف کی listening to the authors discuss their experience, which in turn interested me enough to read the book. Canadian couple Alisa Smith and James MacKinnon simply decided one دن to eat nothing but local foods from within a 100 mile radius for an entire year. Foods not easy accessible within the radius? Coffee. Sugar. Wheat. A very interesting and inspiring story; makes me want to attempt the same (so did my father, until he heard about the coffee limitation.)

French Women Don't Get Fat سے طرف کی Mireille Guiliano
Wait -- Aren't the French known for their food? Why aren't they fat like us? Guiliano tries to enlighten us hefty Westerners on the French paradox: how to enjoy food and stay slim and healthy. Some of the hints: drink a lot of water; take the stairs instead of the elevator. Hmm -- who would of thunk of that? A quick read and a nifty and entertaining story.

Soapbox مضمون سے طرف کی Cressida Hanson
added by Le-Magnifique
Since everyone was so positive about my last article, I decided to make it a series of sorts. Different themes, maybe one مضمون a month. I am 23 and I still love all of the following books. People can enjoy them at any age, but these are especially great ones for kids and teens. There were so many to choose from, so I apologize that I had to leave out so many of my favorites. Let's all recapture youth! As always, these are in no particular order.

1. The Neverending Story سے طرف کی Michael Ende
This is one of the few fantasy novels that isn't an entire series. Not to offend anyone, but I do not like...

Who Am I?
By: Gabriela Acosta

Chapter 1
“How would آپ describe me Lilly?” I asked.
“Paula, you’re a very smart and unique person. But also mysterious. In a good way.” She replied.
“How am I mysterious? I mean, I never thought of myself that way.”
“Because you’re always so quiet around people. Not around me, of course. It’s like آپ shut yourself down completely, like آپ don’t want them to know who آپ are.”
“But آپ know I’m very shy! Besides, I’m not very good at socializing, آپ know? I always make myself sound like a total freak!
“Hey, آپ asked for my...
