An introduction

I know آپ haven’t heard from me for some time and that’s largely due to the fact that OTH s6 really made me shit brick if I may be bold to say. It was, in many Brucassers’ general opinion, worse than s4. This is because we get to experience and relive the horror of two interesting characters uniting to become one boring couple. We all read many opinions, comparisons and compelling arguments from many of our reasonable BLers here and I would just like to assert my own conviction with the rest of all of آپ because as much I feel too sullen to interact and share comprehensive knowledge on season 6’s grand disaster, I know that I should نگلنا the indignity and get to say something about it.

My choice of couples is in order: JEYTON, NALEY and BRUCAS. I’ve come to terms that the charming Brian Greenberg might not come back to rekindle the lost flame of Jeyton so I could definitely devote all my energy helping Brucas win back the place that is rightfully theirs and will never belong to Leyton. Some have witnessed my loss of temper towards Mark’s pathetic shipment and let me apologize for that. It took me a while to internalize all that has happened to One درخت ہل, لندن and now I think I could point out the obvious reasons why Leyton, despite that this is their time to shine, will always fall short, dipped in crap-scented cookie dough and green-colored piss because as far as everyone is concerned, Leyton makes throwing oneself in a river to wash the filth that is them overpowering.

A short summary of Leyton

Facts established: Whatever Lucas and Peyton shared and loved about each other has never been romantic یا entirely genuine. The very combination of the two of them settling for an affirming relationship is undeniably sickening but most of all, tragic (as we have seen in season 6.) Tragic because Lucas had to end up with a girl he barely knew, whom he assumed to know through how he writes about her in his book, through all that baseless infatuation he used to have for her in childhood, through the various how-you-doing and you-could-use-a-friend talks scattered throughout the show’s seasons with no revealing depth (admittedly only in season 1 did they fundamentally connected) and because he had to pick her, choose her, ‘should be with her’, in his own words (s1) like it’s a mandatory bullshit that fate is pulling and grinding his پچھواڑے, گدا into. Tragic because Peyton had a tough time all her life and Lucas likes being that guy for her and this seemed to delude her and offered her false hope, made her think that love has to be won in dishonest ways (like hurting her best friend in the process,) made her believe in a fantasy that could compensate for her emotional shortcomings, made her believe that a boy, whom she barely converse with unless she’s in complete doom with a stalker (s4) and needed somebody to cuddle her and identify with the very same fears she felt (s1 and s3), could be somebody she is meant to be with, somebody who really does understand her, somebody who isn’t as duped as she is when it comes to the difference between being truly in love یا being in love with the idea of love. Tragic because these two adorable characters manage to gravitate to each other only when the people they needed left them, when bad things happened and there is nobody else, when the friendship became insecurity and suddenly misinterpreted as possession, as love, as something the both can use to cut themselves off from the reality, to deny that it’s never going to be مزید than a high school affair that was blown out of proportion.

The Opposition against Leyton

Just when آپ think the fine line between exaggeration and trivialization hasn’t been crossed, Mark wrote additional antics for Leyton so they can manage to do the impossible. From hooking up behind Brooke twice, grasping on each other when Lucas can’t have Brooke and Peyton just has to have somebody and then destroying a potentially good marriage between Lucas and nice girl named Lindsey to recklessly getting engaged overnight in Las Vegas, just to prove that they’re as tortured and immature as they were as adolescents and that they always bring this out from each other when together. Why is it that only beginning is sweet with Leyton? Give it time, folks, and the TLA, rather than compelling, becomes repulsing. S1 was a guilty pleasure; they seemed so exciting together, dumping the arrogant Nathan (whose transition is far مزید impressive when he was with Haley than what LP displayed) and then sharing a passionate kiss that got spoiled because Peyton didn’t want to be emotionally-attached to the helplessly romantic Lucas. Leyton seems so right with the rhythm and yet fucked-up when the real symphony plays. They could have it right the first time but both didn’t seem to be as synchronized as soul mates are supposed to be. Oh, I thought that true love is supposed to be perfect as what the distortion dictates. And then somewhere in the middle (s2 and s3), Lucas and Peyton found love at last and it’s not with each other. Lucas found it in Brooke whom he gave a rat’s پچھواڑے, گدا because he didn’t choose it to happen, he didn’t juggle tricks and sifted through cards to pick and get her, it just fell in the right place and right time. This shocked and terrified him that he was unable to admit he already love her because he’s hang up to the notion that this should have happened earlier but dear Luke didn’t know that it’s only because a girl named Peyton Sawyer was distracting him too much.

Same goes for کہا girl who gradually entered a state of spiritual bliss and emotional merriment with the patient Jake because what she had with him was a real relationship, no random hook-up that turns ugly when seen close-up. She loves him, fights for him, protects him and waits for him (and not as pathetic as she seemed to do the same things for Lucas in s4, where she has to be a damsel in distress, and s5, where she has to be a pain in the پچھواڑے, گدا ex-girlfriend.) Peyton and Jake, just like Nathan and Haley, are soul mates, really, because آپ can see their hearts uniting in slow speed and tenderness, even when outside forces tie them down, even when distance can get weakening.

Lucas and Peyton are a different story in s5, however. Their hearts don’t beat together as many of their شائقین hoped and imagined. There were even awkward pauses in their conversation (take note this is when Lucas is going to propose to her.) Then Luke, the noble man he is, tries again this time as he waits for Peyton in a room. He falls asleep, Peyton sees the ring, rejects him, has this big speech about ‘someday’ stolen from the Jeyton farewell and then he leaves her, forgets her, had a relatively good two-year relationship with his editor and then she comes back, expects to be entitled to him and he says she just has to destroy every relationship he has and then because of anger, he proposed to his current girlfriend. Peyton sees this, instead of talking to him rationally, she whines at him, cries her eyes out, pressuring him to drop the engagement and just be with her, be with her in the same fashion of torment and lust like in s1 where Lucas was deceived before. He was smarter this time and he pushed through the wedding. But it was dear Lindsey who suffered ill-wisdom. She thought she’s getting in the way, just like what Brooke thought before, and she flees from the altar. Talk about déjà vu. Talk about lousy write-ups. And then we should expect things to just roll back and stick to the original plan, without so much care as to how inconsiderate we are to Brooke and Lindsey because we have to have Lucas and Peyton together, isn’t that right, Mark, because آپ created this دکھائیں for them? However, one might inquire as to why the fuck is it that آپ write a boring delayed gratification about Leyton. Do آپ hope that this would get a rise on many fans? Clearly you’re wrong since there are Anti-LPers.

The Substance that lacks in Leyton

Please, we heard the excuses and justifications. Leytoners did the honor of reminding us Brucassers and Jeytoners where we stand which is basically summarized into these points: (take note sarcasm and ridicule from my part.)

1.    Peyton is in love with Lucas. She didn’t know this the whole time in s1, s2, s3 and finally did سے طرف کی the end of s3. She sacrificed a great deal of waiting for him in s4. Lucas was always there for her even when she was with Jake. He rescued her in s3 when she got shot. He did the same thing in s4.

2.    Lucas is in love with Peyton. He wasn’t really sure about it in s1, s2, s3, s4 (and probably s5 and s6 for future references.) He only used Brooke to shield himself from the ‘strength of feelings’ he has for Peyton. Peyton was always there to inspire him even when he was with Brooke. She was somebody he takes care of in s3 like a wounded کتے he can’t leave especially when she got shot in the leg (and her biological mom died too, poor thing, he thought.) She had the same trouble in s4 with a stalker and he is happy to help.

3.    Peyton finally told Lucas, confessed: “I love you. I’m in love with you” (doesn’t get مزید obvious than that, Luke!) She was overcome with the feeling of bravery and so she decided that Lucas might also return it, gradually, and she will wait.

4.    Lucas finally found out what Peyton feels and to which he answered, “Oh?” (like, “oh no, آپ didn’t!” with the snap of his fingers). He was overcome with confusion and so he decided that Peyton might just change her mind (which he knew she could easily do like in s1), gradually and he will ignore.

5.    Brooke helps سے طرف کی telling Lucas that he should go for her. Brooke is all for Leyton. No سوالات about it. She finally realized she’s just a distraction that hindered the beginning of the immaculate TLA of Lucas and Peyton. Way to go, Brooke, yay! *rolls eyes*

6.    Peyton was deliriously happy that yes, finally! Somebody besides Jake can handle her, can grow flowers with her in the garden of love, so she kisses Lucas in the championship game with some explosion of colorful graffiti to add some tempo of romance. And then she bakes salted کوکیز for him and makes out with him in class. These are gestures of her eternal love for him.

7.    Lucas decides that hey, this could work and he spent a great deal doing what he commonly does when he is with and around Peyton: become her knight in shining armor and drop whatever مزید important things he had to do for her. Aw, true love!

8.    They graduated. Peyton was in another state. Luke stuck around in درخت Hill. He sees her less and she sees him less but it’s still TLA because the door is still imprinted with it and that means the world! So they saw each other and fought over not getting engaged یا getting engaged too early, whatever, it’s not important. Lucas left, pissed. Peyton cried, heartbroken but also pissed. Came back to Lucas because her job is full of shit and she thinks maybe Lucas still wants her. He doesn’t. Tells her the منٹ she tries to embrace him. But the book, oh that book! There’s still hope! LP can be saved. So s5 devoted itself on revealing the aspects and crucial significance of the book to Leyton’s love and every character in درخت ہل, لندن gets commentary on it too. It’s amazing! آپ almost believed that it’s natural as it happens when it’s so scripted and dragged to the dirt.

9.    Lucas didn’t marry Lindsey. Oh wait, he کہا “I do.” It was Lindsey who didn’t marry Lucas. Why? Peyton, of course, because True Love is like that: late epiphanies in a random circumstance that are made out to be calling from the stars where the universe snapped back in focus and only Leyton exists, duh? So Lucas gets drunk. Peyton takes him home. Lucas tells her he hates her. Peyton threw water ammunition at people on the streets because, well, I have no clue, really. Haley advises Lucas, follow his heart, enough with the garbage, I still have to take care of my son and he’s five and you’re not, Luke, so grow the fuck up. And Lucas did. He makes a phone call to ask someone to marry him in Las Vegas. And holy macaroni, it’s Peyton! Phew, didn’t see that one coming. It landed like a comet (oh my god, that is so appropriate, I swear to god that I so did not realize that the term was relevant, so perfect, so meant to transpire in this cruel world!)

10.    And Leytoners get to brag about the precious holy word of Mark’s philosophical and highly-imaginative (oh, definitely, in every sense of the term, y’all) Leyton love story. They bask in glory, we puke in indigestion. They cringe in delight, we wince in disgust. They celebrated with victory untarnished and we come for LP’s blood. Shit happens آپ know. If my expression for s4 was WHAT THE FUCK, MARK? My expression for s6 is GOD DAMN IT ALL, MARK!


So I get it now. One درخت ہل, لندن life-lessons learned from Leyton are:

1) Love can be controlled if آپ wish it so;
2) آپ can get away with dishonesty and cheating;
3) آپ can save each other exclusively;
4) آپ can still be in love even when آپ haven’t been seeing each other for years and آپ don’t have to work hard for it because it’s natural and because آپ have a stupid book to prove it anyway;
5) آپ can have fun in the beginning and not worry about commitment and problems to face in the future;
6) As long as آپ can meet in some way and say the words آپ can agree on, then keep the relationship, it’s worth it;
7) Love can do many things, good and bad and the good happens less and the bad ruins more;
8) آپ can keep each other because nobody else would and this is a sign that you’re meant to end up together;
9) آپ can take your time, take a very long time realizing you’re in love سے طرف کی not knowing it and to make the pretend مزید effective, if you’re really into it, fall in love with other people while you’re at it;
10) And then only realize that آپ love each other once there are people to hurt and situations that would compromise your pride as well as your sanity.
