Childhood Animated Movie Heroines Do آپ think it's ridiculous that people criticize Lola Bunny for having "bunny boobies" but nobody complains about Sandy Cheeks for having "squirrel boobies"?

Well, Here's the difference Lola in the older Tunes she was very let's say push to much of the hot side and was only known for how stunning she's. While Sandy is known for how smart she's. So there where more forces on Lola about that subject than Sandy.

No, because Lola Bunny is PRESENTED as a sex symbol. Sandy isn't.

Think about it. Lola from her debut movie always struts in a sexy way, talks in a sultry voice, the "humor" she contributes among the Loony Tunes comes from the male Loony Tunes (like Bugs) constantly going gaga over her rather than her doing something wacky, zany, or funny for herself, and ultimately she's a prize for Bugs to win over. Her sexiness is treated as integral to her character, rather than incidental.

Sandy HAPPENS to wear a bikini, but neither her character nor her actions in the show rely on sex appeal. They could change her outfit and it wouldn't change anything about her lines, actions, or personality, or other characters' reactions to her. Sandy may be the most "sane" character in the world of Spongebob, but she still has her own funny gags, quirks, and mistakes that have absolutely NOTHING to do with her sexuality.

It's true that in the earlier seasons Sandy is presented as the girl Spongebob may have a crush on and often tries to win over (like the episode he first meets her and tries to impress her with his "love of air," or during the beach episode when he keeps ripping his pants to make her laugh, and all those times he gets jealous of Larry the Lobster getting her attention), but they calmed down on that after a while and she's treated as just another fun, wacky, zany character in the series. She's tough, she's smart, she's confident, she usually has all the answers but can get caught up in the madness and just be another fun, funny, unique, enjoyable character in the show.

I don't think it's the "bunny boobies" that bother people about Lola. It's how her bunny boobies are treated as the most important part of her character (read: sex symbol) rather than being treated like ain't no thang.

I know that Sandy is a much better character but I still think Lola has personality. She's smart, a no nonsense person, is independent, courageous, sweet, confident, tough, strong, a feminine tomboy, and a bada**. I love how she says "Don't ever call me doll", which shows she doesn't want to be someone who is just thought of as a pretty girl or a sex symbol, despite that the movie isn't doing a good job of that by making her do sexy poses. She's a tomboy but she's also feminine. I love Kayley from Quest For Camelot, but she kind of does go extreme with the tomboyness and thinks anything feminine is bad. Lola isn't like that, which helps balance her out. Her main problem is that she's hardly in the movie because they thought everyone would be mad that they were taking time to develop her instead of focusing on the already existing Loony Tunes. But she doesn't have to be wacky to be likable. People say she has personality in the new Loony Tunes show but they just made her a creepy, idiotic, and irritating bimbo.

If you watch any show about anthropomorphic animals the females are going to be sexy and have a more "human" body structure than the males. I noticed that several years ago when I was watching the DuckTales episode Til Nephews Do Us Part, where Scrooge was dating this extremely sexy female duck. Since then I've kind of kept my eyes open for more times when the female animal is sexier than the male, and believe me Lola is far from alone.

Yeah, the female animals are always made to look prettier and curvier than their male counterparts. Even though Duchess from The Aristocats isn't sexy by any means, her design is prettier, smoother, and curvier than the male cats in the movie, who are rougher and chunkier looking. At least Lola doesn't look like Honey Bunny (STUPID name by the way), who is just Bugs as a drag queen.

wait, people complain about that? but if they do yeah. but I understand- Lola is considerably more sultry-looking than Sandy, the most sexual thing about whom is just her boobs.

Yeah but Lola isn't even that sexy or overly sexualized. I mean look at some other human like animals or look at Jessica Rabbit or Holli Wood.

I didn't say Sandy Cheeks was "a better character." I'm saying that being SEXEH is still much more present in Lola's character than Sandy's. Being a sex object to be lusted over dominates most of Lola's presentation as a character in the story (since she constantly poses in a playboy bunny way, wears revealing outfits, always walks and talks in a sultry, titillating way, and almost all of her interactions with other characters involve male characters oogling her), while Sandy wearing a bikini is completely incidental, never zoomed in on, and never brought attention to. None of the male characters Sandy interacts with ever comment on or take notice of her beauty, allure, or sexuality.

People object to "bunny boobies" on Lola because the bunny boobies are given so much attention from the story and characters, whereas Sandy's squirrel boobies get absolutely no attention.

While I think Lola is sexier and more sexulized than Sandy, I don't think it's done in an over the top way, like with some female characters. So I think stupid to pick on Lola when there are lot more female cartoon characters (both human and animal), that are much more inappropriate for kids.

^ Problem is, Lola is a RABBIT. An anthropomorphized bunny who's dolled up to look and act like a sex object.

Plus, at the time, there also weren't any female Looney Tunes (apart from Granny) so they made Lola to appeal to young girls. And the first female Looney Tune that young girls of our generation were introduced to, that we were supposed to identify with and look up to, was... a sex object. For the boys to drool over. Who wasn't funny, wacky, or zany, or part of the fun the way the male Looney Tune characters were part of the fun.

... You see the problem with this? Other characters have problems too, and I'm sure they do get plenty of flak for it too, but that doesn't erase the problems Lola has.

But Lola also has good qualities. She teaches girls to be strong and independent. She's a smart and competent female character that can keep up with the guy characters. She's not wacky or zany but it's all about screentime. They didn't want to develop her as much as they could have because they thought people would get upset that they focus too much on a new character instead of the classic characters like Bugs and Daffy. In the new Looney Tunes show, they have reinvented Lola to make her wacky but they ruined her. They took a strong, confident, smart, competent, and independent character that was a good role model and turned her into an incompetent, man obsessed bimbo! What they should have done was kept her the way she was in Space Jam but also make her more like Babs Bunny from Tiny Tunes. Kept her sarcastic, witty, smart, independent, and athletic, but also have her do impersonations, act wacky, and do a lot of the things Bugs did. That's what would've been a perfect thing to do with Lola. But at least she is better than Honey Bunny. I didn't even know who that was until someone mentioned her on youtube. I looked her up and she had no personality and was basically Bugs Bunny as a drag queen. Lola is more than just a sex symbol and does have her own character. I mean, in the movie, the characters that really swoon over her are animals. But even if she is a rabbit, so what? I mean female animal characters are always made to look more human looking than their male counterparts. There are far more sexualized animal characters.
