Chapter 2: Post-Seduction Heartbreak
سے طرف کی the time she got back to the Talon it was well past 11 so she assumed her cousin would be fast asleep. She didn’t want to have to face her after all that’s gone on today; after all she does have a way of finding things out so she didn’t want to risk it. She quietly opened the door and crept into the apartment. To her dismay her cousin was sitting on the couch, still awake, watching TV.
“Hey Chlo.” She کہا softly
“Lois!” She replied seeming happy she was finally home. Once she got a glimpse of the outfit her big cuz was wearing she questioned where she had been dressed like that. “Do آپ have a new night job I don’t know about? It would definitely explain why your ہوم so late!” She teased.
"Wow! That was hilarious!” She retorted sarcastically letting out a fake laugh as she sat down beside her. Chloe looked at Lois and saw the sadness hiding in her eyes.
“Is everything okay?” She asked as she put her hand on Lois arm.
“Yeah of course. Why?” Answered Lois; trying to pretend like nothing was wrong but deep down feeling as though her دل had been ripped out of her chest and torn into pieces.
“I’m your cousin remember? I can tell when something is wrong, now are آپ going to tell me یا am I going to have to figure it out myself?” She gave Lois a comforting smile to reassure her that it would be okay and that she could trust her.
“I’ve just been really tired lately and work has been really stressful.” She told her cousin trying her best to sound convincing.
“Are آپ sure that’s all?” Lois remained silent. Chloe put her hands on her cousin’s shoulders and looked her right in the eyes. “Are آپ sure this has nothing to do with Clark?” Lois couldn’t take it anymore and she broke out into sobs as she placed her head on her cousin’s lap.
“How did you-“
“oh common Lois, I’m pretty sure everyone at that wedding saw what was going on between آپ two!” She tried to comfort her سے طرف کی placing her hand on her arm, letting her know it would be okay. “And, Oliver filled me in on the rest.”
“He told you?” She asked, unsure if she was upset at the fact that he discussed her deepest of feelings without her knowing یا relieved that she could finally talk to Chloe about it.
“Why didn’t آپ just tell me how آپ felt? “
“I don’t know.” She sniffles. “It’s like, if I let it out, if I told آپ and everyone else, then, it was real.”
“There is nothing wrong with having those feelings Lois.” Chloe smiled as she wiped away her tears.
“Until آپ get your heartbroken.” She sobbed and مزید tears ran down her face.
“Why what happened?” She knew something happened, Lois wasn’t the type to let feelings get the best of her, she was a fighter, and so seeing her like this broke her heart.
“Well things had finally started to happen between us. Just as I was leaving to go sit down somewhere he grabbed my hand and pulled me close to him. We started dancing and when I looked up at him and saw those baby blues staring back at me, I felt safe. I felt as though all the pain of the world was gone and we slipped away from it all, just the two of us. We both leaned in just knowing that we both wanted the same thing, and just as our lips were about to touch everything fell apart. Lana returned just in time to take back what she thought was hers, leaving me in the dust.” She whimpered, barely able to speak as her eyes flooded with مزید tears. Chloe knew nothing she could say would change anything, so she gripped her cousin tight holding her in her arms as she cried her دل out.

Clark woke up that morning to the warm smell of پینکیکس and bacon. As he walked downstairs he saw Lana setting the dining room میز, جدول for breakfast. This was always what he had dreamed of; waking up to the woman of his dreams and finally be with her without anyone else getting in their way. That woman had always been Lana; it had been, since middle school. But something didn't feel right and he just couldn't figure out what it was.
Sensing his presence Lana turned to look at him. He froze as the تصاویر of Lois and the گزشتہ night flashed his mind and hit him like lightning. He found himself travelling back to that moment, regretting the chance he took سے طرف کی leaving her while all he was trying was to avoid dealing with his conflicting emotions.
He felt a pair of lips brushing against his briefly, snapping him away from his thoughts.
LANA, he reminded himself
“Good morning!” she کہا smiling.
“Good morning.” He replied with a strange tone. Usually when he kissed Lana there was a deep connection between their lips leaving him wanting more. But this morning there was nothing. He tried to ignore it. There was no way he was loosing his feelings for Lana, she was the one he had always wanted to be with, and he had known from the moment he first saw her that he was going to marry her. But then why was it when he woke up that morning he wanted to see Lois setting the میز, جدول for breakfast instead? He was مزید confused than ever. But this was Lana, Lana Lang the woman of his dreams and they were finally together and he couldn’t risk losing her because of what he and Lois could become.
“Is something wrong?” She asked “You don't seem like yourself.”
“I’m great, I have everything I could ever wish for.” He smiled back at her, but behind that charming smile was a sense of doubt.

It was like any other دن at the Daily Planet, the smell of coffee filled the air, and everyone was busy doing their work, everybody but Clark. He had just arrived at work about five منٹ earlier. Lois hadn’t been at her desk; apparently she had a meeting with the boss. Clark anxiously awaited her return, finding himself unable to concentrate on anything but what he might say to her when she came back. After what felt like days to Clark, the elevator doors opened and Lois strolled out. The way the sunlight hit her face and how her silky hair bounced with each step she took made Clark feel as though he was watching one of those slow-motion movie scenes. When had these feelings for Lois become so strong? He’d always thought she was attractive but now it was مزید than that. Once she got to her ڈیسک she noticed a coffee and بسکٹ sitting there for her.
“Thanks Clark!” she beamed as she took a big sip of coffee.
“It was no trouble at all Lois.” He answered even though he was lying, the line at the coffee دکان took half an گھنٹہ but it was the least he could do. “Can we talk, maybe somewhere مزید quiet?”
“Talk about what?” she asked but knowing exactly what he wanted to talk about. But there was no way she would bring herself to have this conversation with him.

“Look Clark, nothing happened. Why don’t we just forget about it? I was clearly not in my right state of mind!” she laughed. But deep down it crushed her.
I don’t want to forget about it; I want to talk about it. Talk about us. He thought of letting it go; letting it pass like everything else he wanted to say but didn’t. But before he could make up his mind the words were already out of his mouth.
US it felt so good to hear him say that and for a moment she let herself hope...but knowing him she knew he didn’t mean it like that. “Clark there is no US there will never be an US, just leave it alone okay? It hurt her so much to say that but it had to be done. Even though she wanted to just blurt out all her feelings she knew she couldn’t. Because if she did, he would know and it would be out, and there would be no turning back.
