If not for the last few episodes, I would have said season 1. Season 2 was very difficult, but for all of the pain and heartache, it all paid off in the last episode. Julie P. said season 2 was about Damon's journey and its emotional resolution in "As I Lay Dying." The most tenderest of their scenes together at the end, gave me so much hope for both of them.

They were progressed more smoothly/had more scenes in S1 that were lighthearted. I love angst but this season was horrible in how they dealt with the necksnapping incident by delaying their scenes/not giving them any for 4 episodes straight.

Season 1 was amazing. It had the build up and the friendship and the little moments.
But Season 2 had the epic moments - compelling her to forget the ILY, Damon's struggle with his humanity, Elena holding Damon as he's dying, etc.

Season one was about their friendship, there were little moments, that were beautiful! In Season two they became more sirious. There was angst, there were beautiful moments and after everything what happened they still come back to each other and Elena always forgive him. In season two we could see how much Damon loves Elena, he would die for her, he does anything to save her, we see how much Elena cares for him in the last episode.

Both season's are amazing to me!

In Season 2 was so much drama going on but it paid off in the last few eps <3

Season 2 had more breatthaking Delena scenes and Damon's love for her grew stronger.
