Damon's love for Elena has taken centre stage in the triangle, and everyone can relate to the pain of loving someone who doesn't love them back. So I keep thinking that if Elena was never going to love Damon, and his love for her was always going to be unrequited, then there would be no point. I've been on the vampire-diaries.net forums, and there has been a huge reaction against the 'I'm mad because I love you' 'Maybe that's the problem' scene. There is the general feeling among Camp Damon that here's a guy who's gone above and beyond for someone he loves, and he always gets his heart broken. What will it take for him to be happy? If the triangle never comes to the fore, and Elena never loves him, the fans will HATE the writers and the show will have a huge backlash from Damon/DE fans who are unhappy about how Damon is being treated.
And...every time things have taken a turn for the worse, DE have always survived.

it's been 3 seasons and still nothing serious between Delena. :( this show is still about Stelena, 3x14 just proved it... i lost faith. And to top it all Julie Plec said "“Right now, for the rest of the season, We’re trying to get Stefan back on track with his relationship with Elena”.... :(

@damon_elena I hope what you said is just another trick... They earlier said that this part of season will be about Delena. I clearly remember that so I hope it will be :)
