Yes. Accept no substitute!!!! Collinwood is Seaview is Collinwood. PLEASE. The very idea of another house masquerading as Collinwood is quite unacceptable, regardless of how spooky or gothic it is. If you think otherwise, perhaps you'd like to look into my eyes...

While I don't expect the interior of the house to be used in the film, the exterior, the actual image of Seaview Terrace would, IMO, be the best choice for the "role" of Collinwood!

Seaview was depicted as Collinwood is 1225 episodes of Dark Shadows spanning nearly 5 years. Without a doubt it IS Collinwood.

Of course it's Collinwood (though the historical wonk part of my brain argues with that from time to time). For all the reasons Dan Curtis first thought it was perfect, it still IS perfect.

Seaview Terrace is the 'only' Collinwood to me. I didn't like the 1991 series, and thought the 2004 Pilot was stupid. Am hoping they use Seaview Terrace for the setting of the '10 Johnny Depp movie,and that they do a better job of making it like the original series!

I'll leave a comment. I'd LOVE it if Seaview Terrace could be used, but it's a school (I think), so it can't. Not on a soundstage, plz, cuz that just wouldn't be right. Use another old, sprawling Victorian mansion. It has to have at least one turret/tower, or it won't be right.

To Englishlass7 Seaview in Newport, RI still exists. I have been there twice this year. It is no longer a school and available as a shooting location. The Spratt House(which was in Tarrytown, NY) however is the house that was destroyed by arson in 1969. Though there are some ruins left, but no Spratt House. If you can ever get a chance be sure to watch the documentary: "Dark Shadows: On Location" it is on the Dark Shadows: Special Edition DVD.

I think Seaview is the perfect look for Collinwood. Hope Depp and company realize that.

If they could shoot in the interiors at Seaview too that would be wonderful. It's so much more spacious than the interior sets in the original series.

I really hope they choose Seaveiw for the 2011 film. It just wouldn't be Dark Shadows without it. Hopefully they could go inside to shoot it.

There's no question about it, if this to be Dark Shadows the movie you have to have the original house, no question.

Yeah, Seaview is Collinwood, but if they had used Lyndehurst that would have been fine also.
