I believe there is, but not in the typical Christian sense. It's complicated.

hahaha, priceless Lila, i wonder the same thing myself.. although i'm sure with much more tongue-in-cheek.

i believe in the awesome, inexplicable, and infinitely mysterious interconnectedness of the universe. whether or not that involves some "higher power", i don't know, and frankly, it doesn't matter.

i think that's part of what has always interested me in Buddhism - spirituality without deity :)

I'm an agnostic leaning towards atheism. I don't believe in god, but if anyone can prove his existence, than I'm willing to change my mind. I seriously doubt that will ever happen.

God is the creator and that is the only way to logically explain how the world came to be in existence. He is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. How do you explain the complexities of the human body more specifically our DNA? Where did the abilities we have to build and design come from? If you look at the science of the Bible you will not find one fallibility.

oh good god (pun intended :P). "if you look at the science of the Bible you will not find one fallibility". seriously? i mean really? and are you actually suggesting the bible has a better explanation for DNA than science? we're talking about the book that up until a few hundred years ago had everyone convinced that the world was flat and the Earth was the centre of the universe. sheesh.

DrD - heavenly lasagnas? priceless. veggie ones of course :P

FYI: I know Doctor D was joking, but Pastafarianism, for those who don't know is.... for all intents and purposes... a link

I think the one who's come closest to my views is bliss. She pretty much has it down what I believe. My "god" (lower case, and ALWAYS in quotes) is actually more of an "it" than a "He" or a "She." It's a force, to me, possibly a conscious one, that floats about. But frankly, my "god" doesn't really care much about human affairs. It just floats there happily. Like a cloud. My god is a cloud.

Excuse me, I'm a little drunk.

"Science of the Bible is infallible"-- Incorrect. The science of the Bible is contradictory. Case in point: Compare "An eye for an eye" to "turn the other cheek." That's just the top of my head.

One could argue I'm comparing the old testament to the new testament, but weren't they both the word of God?

My "god" is fallible because it's more of a force than a being. Like I said, it's a cloud. ;o)

Science of the Bible:

The universe has only been around for a few thousand years. 6,000, right? Since it takes millions of lightyears for the light from stars to travel to Earth, how can we see them? We should only be able to see a few thousand years worth of light, yet the sky is filled with stars. The Bible Universe is a lot smaller than the real one.

ThinkPink20 picked Yes , It explains every thing !:
I use God (mine's capitalized because he's just that cool) to fill in any cracks that science can't/doesn't explain, or with what I like to have believed. My God isn't really like the Catholic God though. Mine's more forgiving of my actions, and we don't have to talk NEARLY as much. He watches over me and I know He's there.
Example: I know the Big Bang Theory is one that is the most accepted when it comes to how the Earth was made. However, I like to THINK that God put in a lot of time and effort to create the earth so it's different and perfect for us to live on. I know that's not really the case.
Another example: I know evolution is the most widely accepted theory for how people came to be. However, I like to think that God made me unique, unlike anyone else, and perfect just the way I am. I know that's not the case, we evolved from fish.
So I'm mixing what I know to what I wish was. Even though every day, science is disproving Bible verses left and right, I want to keep some faith.

I believe in infinite reality - space/time/universe always been there in some shape or form but because we don't understand the concept of "no beginning or end" we TRY to make sense of it with an "almightly" which i never really understood but hey to each his own.

Because everything we know has "a beginning, middle and end" we assume that everything must follow the same structure as our lives - when you think about it, it's kinda arrogant.

I'm not going to piss all over someone's beliefs and say "Your god doesn't exist because I say so/for these reasons" but at the same time, I'm not going to say "Your god absolutely does exist and that then explains everything".

I generally say "Maybe someone/thing does exist that has more power than we can comprehend, and then again maybe they don't"

Heck for all we know, this could just be a god playing a The Sims like game with us.

^Exactly. I don't believe there is a guy up there in the clouds watching over all of us and damning people to Hell. But, life is such a miracle that I think there must be some higher power, like a force, for want of a better word.
Nothing can ever be proved and we humans will be wondering about it for eternity. :)

This is a very open-ended question. I used to believe, I'm not comfortable with sharing why, but guys, reality is awesome. Anyone ever watched a sunrise? Freaking amazing. Of course, though, as a athiest, i'm miserable and don't do stuff like that. I sit at home crying because it's so sad i don't believe in a higher power.

It's possible. For me, it's not the typical Christian God, or any of the other ones that have been explained by various religions, but I believe in a spiritualism, similar to buddhism, but revolving around an adapted version of the Gaia hypothesis... I believe that spiritualism and energy could correspond to a type of higher power and that higher power is the world as we know it, but sort of like Gaia, the Greek God... Just not exactly the Greek God, but more realistic version (at least, more realistic for me, anyway). I also believe that all life is inter-connected and all life needs each other to survive on this planet. Everything definitely has a purpose, anyway.

No idea~ Deep inside I don't really think there is one, but then again I live by the saying, "anything is possible".
But if there is a God, I think it would probably be something very different then what we think of God as~
There has been millions and millions of Gods throughout history. The ancient Greece, Roman, Egyptian, Chinese, Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, Native Americans, Vikings, ect. Every single ancient civilization that ever existed had some sort of perception of God or multiple Gods. Heck, Hinduism alone has over 330 million Gods of worship. If God exists....which one exactly? How in the world am I supposed to know which ones out of the millions are true, and which are mythical? Could it be each and every one exists in its own way? Or is it all conjured up throughout the history of human imagination?
In reality, I know nothing of any certainty. But if there is some sort of God or creator out there, I would think it would be something beyond what we think of God as.

@blackpanther666: That's what I believe~ Every kind of life is connected and important. And I don't necessarily believe that one is more or less important then the other but that simply we all rely on each other in our own specific way~
