Who else do people talk to when they`re praying?
i believe in the awesome, inexplicable, and infinitely mysterious interconnectedness of the universe. whether or not that involves some "higher power", i don't know, and frankly, it doesn't matter.
i think that's part of what has always interested me in Buddhism - spirituality without deity :)
DrD - heavenly lasagnas? priceless. veggie ones of course :P
I think the one who's come closest to my views is bliss. She pretty much has it down what I believe. My "god" (lower case, and ALWAYS in quotes) is actually more of an "it" than a "He" or a "She." It's a force, to me, possibly a conscious one, that floats about. But frankly, my "god" doesn't really care much about human affairs. It just floats there happily. Like a cloud. My god is a cloud.
Excuse me, I'm a little drunk.
"Science of the Bible is infallible"-- Incorrect. The science of the Bible is contradictory. Case in point: Compare "An eye for an eye" to "turn the other cheek." That's just the top of my head.
One could argue I'm comparing the old testament to the new testament, but weren't they both the word of God?
My "god" is fallible because it's more of a force than a being. Like I said, it's a cloud. ;o)
oh Cinders, i heart you. that was very Dwight of you hehe. i think you and i would have awesome drunked debates. i'll look you up next time i cross the border ;)
The universe has only been around for a few thousand years. 6,000, right? Since it takes millions of lightyears for the light from stars to travel to Earth, how can we see them? We should only be able to see a few thousand years worth of light, yet the sky is filled with stars. The Bible Universe is a lot smaller than the real one.
& about my top comment, LOL i was joking but there is only one God who hears your prayers.
Example: I know the Big Bang Theory is one that is the most accepted when it comes to how the Earth was made. However, I like to THINK that God put in a lot of time and effort to create the earth so it's different and perfect for us to live on. I know that's not really the case.
Another example: I know evolution is the most widely accepted theory for how people came to be. However, I like to think that God made me unique, unlike anyone else, and perfect just the way I am. I know that's not the case, we evolved from fish.
So I'm mixing what I know to what I wish was. Even though every day, science is disproving Bible verses left and right, I want to keep some faith.
this is reallity there i belive in some sourt of after life but not in a heaven. perfect life is impossible. i respect peole who are religous just for there abilty to beilvie without proof
Because everything we know has "a beginning, middle and end" we assume that everything must follow the same structure as our lives - when you think about it, it's kinda arrogant.
I generally say "Maybe someone/thing does exist that has more power than we can comprehend, and then again maybe they don't"
Heck for all we know, this could just be a god playing a The Sims like game with us.
I don't understand how non-belivers can look at the world, & not see in anything a higher power of some sort.
Nothing can ever be proved and we humans will be wondering about it for eternity. :)
But if there is a God, I think it would probably be something very different then what we think of God as~
There has been millions and millions of Gods throughout history. The ancient Greece, Roman, Egyptian, Chinese, Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, Native Americans, Vikings, ect. Every single ancient civilization that ever existed had some sort of perception of God or multiple Gods. Heck, Hinduism alone has over 330 million Gods of worship. If God exists....which one exactly? How in the world am I supposed to know which ones out of the millions are true, and which are mythical? Could it be each and every one exists in its own way? Or is it all conjured up throughout the history of human imagination?
In reality, I know nothing of any certainty. But if there is some sort of God or creator out there, I would think it would be something beyond what we think of God as.
@blackpanther666: That's what I believe~ Every kind of life is connected and important. And I don't necessarily believe that one is more or less important then the other but that simply we all rely on each other in our own specific way~
