She doesn't have the personality that a great mother needs (ignoring the sequel), same with Jasmine.

Tiana has a good personality, but she would work so much that she wouldn't have time for her children

I'm not counting the sequel here for my opinion. In my opinion, this is not even close. Though I love her, she's way too reckless, selfish, and irresponsible in my opinion to be a great mother.

No Patience and she seems a bit spoiled and would most likely leave her children in the care of a nanny or something and only be there when they are clean, good, or she needs a smile....I don't see her much for cleaning up after herself, muchless a child....The first explosive poop or throw up would send her running disgusted....and staying up with a screaming child all night?...yeah right....

Sure, she works hard, but would she really have enough time for children? Tiana is so work ovsessed that i feel that her mother would be taking care of the children all the time.

Yes I have seen Aladdin...watched in the theater when I was a kid....have it on VHS....And she does not come off as having much patience at all...She easily flys off the handle when things are not going her way and seems easily annoyed...kids will try your patience and even make the sweetest person scream and want to pull their hair out....and she obviously does not know how to handle herself (who runs away from home with no money? And then when she is called out as a thief she automatically pulls the Princess card...she is spoiled....) And can you really see her handling baby puke in the face very well? or walking and bouncing a screaming child on her hip all night and then taking care of the child with no sleep the next day? I can't see her handling it well at all...like I said she would most likely get other people to take care of the kid for her and do all the messy work...Maybe I am wrong but that is the impression I get...some women should not be mothers, maybe aunts or teachers or even daycare workers, but not mothers....She can be loving and obviously likes kids, but I just don't think she could handle the responsiblity of being a full time mother....

And please explain to me how Ariel was a HORRIBLE mother? what made her so horrible? was it because she had a hard time talking to her daughter? Cause she kept something dangersous from her child to protect her? Was it because she wanted her to be safe and did what she could to protect her? Yeah she went about it the wrong way, but it does not make her horrible...Melody was a little Brat who should have had her butt smacked and her mouth too for how she talked to her mom...Ariel was a spoiled brat when she was a kid too and they say when you become a mom you get double how you were to your parents....sadly it is sorta true....

I love Tiana and shes my second favorite princess but I don't think she would have enough time to settle down with kids if shes working.

@SweetPea2007 and then again, she's 16, most people change. And yes, i can see her as a mother. Oh and the princess card makes her spoiled? Ok lets see, a guy is about to cut your hand...hummm..sure i'd rather be quiet and have him cut my hand, obviously! pff! Saying that doesn't make a person spoiled. Oh and tell me, if your parents made you want to marry someone you don't love, i'm guessing you'd be fine with that and not annoyed? And, being a mother comes with time, and with the time one spends with their child. You're not born knowing how to be a mother, no one is, you learn everything from when you have your baby.


Ok ...Let's see what made Ariel a bad mother. First: Lying to her daughter for 12 years. Building a wall. Never giving an explanation as to why Melody can't go to the sea. ANd Please! Melody?Once again, You've never watched the movie from what I can tell, and I'll be repeating myself: Tell me, please, enlighten me on the problem of how she spoke to Ariel. From what I remember the stuff she said were: "You knew how much I loved the sea, why did you keep the truth from me?" or, "You're hiding something from me"or even I don't know "Why? Why does the locket have my name on it?" All questions, to which Ariel never once responded to. Sure! I mean what's the big deal? I'll just keep from my daughter that she's a half mermaid, I'm a mermaid, her grandfather is a merman, and half of her world is with merpeople and etc. No big deal! Hum..yeah, great mother with great methods!

Ribon95: Really? Are we really having the Melody arguement again? It's arguements like these that make me like Melody less. And, I shall say this up front, I HAVE WATCHED THE MOVIE! And I really dislike Melody, for many reasons. Ariel was unexperienced with the whole parenting thing, and c'mon, who WOULDN'T freak out when the life of your child is threatened? Melody isn't a total brat, but she is irresponsible. And before you start ranting about how I'm wrong, just remember everyone is intitled to their own opinions.

@TheCrystalRing I'm not saying she's wrong for being scared of losing Melody, but her methods were completely wrong. It doesn't matter if she's unexperienced or not. She should've just said the truth and not build a wall. That way Melody would probably not have gone to the sea, or at least would've been careful if she did. And she should've learned from what she thought Triton was doing wrong (even though, honestly I don't think he did anything wrong). Melody is 12, she's actually quite responsible for her age.

You have good points, Ribon95, so I respect you for that, even if our opinions are slightly different. : )

I don't get why people are picking Jasmine or Aurora. Jasmine's kind, warm hearted and loving. Aurora is sweet, tender and loyal. Ignoring the sequel, I think all the princesses would be good mothers to a degree. Ariel's just more outwardly reckless and impulsive than the others.

Ribon95 I understand that you have a different opinion and that is okay, but I am going to stick to my own personal opinion as well...And I have seen Little Mermaid two and I have never liked it, nor have I like Melody as a character....Yes it was sad that she was so awkard and could not make friends and that she was a loner...It was not Ariels fault her daughter's odd behavior freaked people out and it was sorta Sebastians fault the Party went downhill and Louies......Should have Ariel lied to her daughter to protect her, no....but she was proably thinking that since Melody was like her and if she told her the truth then Melody would be curious and rebel and would go out to sea and try to find Morgana...Ariel went about it wrong, but Melody is a child and she had no right to disrespect her mother and go against her wishes....And Sebastian is a horrible caretaker and really should not be taking care of children....
Oh and on the Jasmine issue...was she 16? I don't rember it ever being said how old...I thought maybe 18 or 19...If she was going to run away she should have found out what she was getting into...nothing in life is free...she could have payed for the apple with her gold jewlery and I did not see her going back in the village and finding the poor starving children and helping them....that would have been nice to see.... and yeah suitors were being thrown in her face, but she is a Princess and her responsibility to her people was to marry royalty and help run the kingdom (well women really did not have a say....so she would just be a figure head)...If I was a Princess and my only puropse was to marry a King/Prince and produce royal heirs....well I would do it (I would be upset and maybe not happy), but I do what is right for my country and do right by my family....that is why I am glad I am not a Princess.....Maybe they will make yet another sequel and Jasmine and Aladdin will have a child or something...that would be interesting...

Ribon95 I already wrote this on the other Poll, but lets us just agree to disagree...Whe you become a mother one day you may watch these movies and see them differently....When I became a woman and mother my opinion certaintly changed about these characters.... As I said before We are coming at this question from different sides...you as a 16 yr old girl and me as a 31 yr old woman with 3 children....You are not going to be able to change my opinion and I really do not care about changing yours....your opinions may change as you grow up and become and adult or they may stay the same...whatever....

Ariel is just your average mom. Mulan, Cinderella, Pocahontas, and Snow White would make great mothers, respectively (from seeing them interact with others in their own films).

Tiana??? MY GOD, NO WAY. I'd HATE to be Tiana's kid. Harassed and harangued from one minute to the next, because "I failed" to do a job the way "my mother, Tiana, wanted it done." Tiana would never give her child any "breaks" or "time off." Tiana would make me resent her.

Out of the princesses, I think work-obsessed Tiana would make the WORST mother out of them all.

She already prove it in TLM 2.

I hate the sequel!!!! As for Tiana, that's because she's kiasu, which is a Hokkien (Chinese dialect) slang for fear of losing. Plus, she's hardly at home and shows little support for her children who lacks motherly love!
