Tbh, I think all of the princesses would get along pretty well with each other, but I picked Belle because I noticed this polarizing pattern when it comes to the fandom: rarely do people ever "just sort of like Ariel and Belle" 👐 Most seem to either *love* Ariel and *loathe* Belle -- or vice-versa -- or remain absolutely infatuated with each *shrugs*

ETA: It's kind of like how people claim that there are two types of girls: those that worship Marilyn Monroe, and others that simply adore Audrey Hepburn. To see people appreciate both is common enough, but I've never personally known anyone to dislike both.

Anyway, while Ariel makes a sacrifice, she does so for her own gain. Meanwhile, Belle sacrifices her very freedom for her father. So, before she learned not to be prejudiced, Belle might have resented Ariel for being able to react in the opposite manner AND still get her happy ending 😌

though I pick Mulan. Ariel would like Mulan on a shallow level- her running away and doing big things would interest her- but Mulan's personality she would find boring and too calm. She's probably get frustrated with her for submitting to her parents' desires and almost marrying a stranger when she doesn't seem to want to. and Mulan might like some things about her too but might find her foolish and not like how Ariel also runs away, but not for a selfless reason.

I don't think they would get along well each other. Ariel might be found Mulan to be a bit boring with her to not daring enough to refuse anyone's order to her. Mulan too, she would find Ariel to be foolish and reckless, and she might be not like her to running away but only for her own self.
Belle is the close second. They maybe would be friends, but I can't see them so close. They're completely too different each other.

Belle has a judgmental streak. Out of these, Jasmine would clearly get along with Belle the most.

Similar to her fanbase, Belle would simply never respect Ariel's choice to become a human. Belle would think that "an adventure" should not require a change of self. And based on how Belle reacts in her own movie, I wouldn't be surprised if she said something snippy to Ariel.

Reminder: Ariel saved Eric's life. Just because Belle sacrificed for her father and stayed with the beast out of an oath she swore, doesn't make Belle better than someone who literally saved another from drowning. On that score, I think Ariel is just as equal to Belle.

I also think Ariel and Mulan would like each other immensely, and get along really well. Mulan and Ariel are both "calmer" individuals under pressure; when they strike out into the unknown, they don't back down from challenges, and they refrain from judging others for personal flaws. Belle and Jasmine are both high-strung people, and they seem to need serious support around them, in order to avoid immediately denouncing the opposite viewpoint from their own.

Long story short, the Belle vs. Ariel feud is real. Belle would not get along with Ariel. They are the polar opposites of the Renaissance princesses.
