10. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs

As much as it has a variety of vistas from mountains to rice fields to gardenscape, it lacks the liveliness. The colors are dull and don't command attention like others. Its always only in the background, unnoticeable. Love the gardens though.

Very boring. It is too woodsy for my country to like.

BATB really? It has such a unique and colorful scenery! After Pocahontas, BATB's landscapes are definitely my favorite.
Any way, only Eric's castle is spectacular, otherwise it is plain, dark and sometimes boring.

Agree with tiffany88. My next choice would be Aladdin.

wavesurf picked Beauty and The Beast:
Not what I consider colorful or beautiful. Like Brave, the colors are dark. There are few episodes of sunlight: the forest and the town at the beginning of the film--- and then the castle and the ballroom at very end are the greatest times when there is sunlight. Every other time, it is DARK in B and the B. TLM has more sunlight and more variety. There are turquoise, reds, pinks, blues, browns, whites, purples, and the sunshine happens quite frequently. Even the fish in the sea are colorful. Contrast this with the repetitive browns, beige, and oranges in Beauty and the Beast, the dark descending clouds, nighttime, snow, wolves, a mob with torches which barely light up the surroundings.... And I don't end up liking the setting for B and the B. I prefer to see a lot of nice surf on a beach, sunlight glimmering on water, a jaunty little town with an adorable outside colonnade where people dance...a beautiful lagoon set up...and a couple of nice indoor and outdoor shots of Eric's residence, along with a gorgeous wedding set up on the water... The last of which is unique among the typical "let's dance together" endings which typically happen, and are shared in both Sleeping Beauty, and B & the B. Instead of another round of ballroom dancing ( which we already saw earlier in the movie), at the end of TLM, we get the signature end of atmosphere uniqueness: a rainbow.

Only Eric's castle is beautiful, the others are quite generic, plain, dark, and dull.

PrincessAyeka12 picked Mulan:
@Wavesurf: Well what you do expect?! Beauty and Beast is set in Autumn and Winter. Also daylight savings time. Of course it's going to be dark. It makes sense that the greatest love story would need a beautiful gothic scenery. Beauty and Beast is my favourite scenery. Such beautiful Autumn colours, I also like the golden brown lit woods and the mist covered woods.

The Little Mermaid scenery is probably so colourful because it's in the tropics and is clearly set in summer.

wavesurf picked Beauty and The Beast:
^Gothic done well is Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth and Crimson Peak. Disney's B & the B is just Gothic-lite. And the colors of autumn are dull, very dull, throughout the movie. I don't like the town, the castle, or the woods. It's boring. Snow and darkness are boring. Show me something else. Even the 2014 French adaptation with Lea Sedoux and Vincent Cassel had more variety used, instead of snow, darkness, dark rooms, dark foyers, etc. And in La belle et La Bete, the sun shown more often!!!! It was not just darkness for almost the entire clocked running time. La Belle et la Bete ( 2014) is definitely much more interesting and has a better setting than Disney's version of the story.

And yes, TLM has more colors. More spontaneity. More quaintness and "whimsical little touches." B and the B's scenery is less engaging, and is not even that gothic to me.

Fair enough and point taken. I just feel that it shows the beauty of the two seasons well and shows the contrast of the characters through the darkness/Winter = Beast and the light/Autumn = Belle.

^Ah! Nice pairing of the seasons to the characters, though! I may dislike the setting for B and the B, but in terms of the mood of each character, I can see Disney's Belle as Autumnal, and Disney's Adam/Beast as Winter. Certainly.
