In the لائبریری of the کیبن Glomgold and his henchmen began to tie up the hostages. As one of them started to tie Donald, he punched the بیگل, بیاگلی Boy in nose and started to run for the door. The stunned بیگل, بیاگلی Boy stood there for a moment rubbing his sore nose, not noticing Donald running toward the door. His brother, who was tying Goofy up shouted, “Look what ya did dummy! Ya let ‘im get away!”
“Yeah, wells he punched me!” shouted the other one. The two of them stood there arguing for a few minutes.
Finally Glomgold interrupted the fight, “Quit fighting ye fools and catch him!” he shouted, as whacked the two بیگل, بیاگلی Boys on the heads with his cane.
The two Beagles Boys then noticed that Donald was already out of the room. They ran after him and found that he was outside getting into the bus. The two of them tackled him, and brought him back inside to the kitchen, struggling and yelling insults that couldn’t be understood.
Glomgold walked over to the struggling Donald, and held his sword up to Donald’s neck, then کہا coolly, “As I کہا before if ye fight back it will get ugly.”
Daisy who was already tied up, yelled, “Don’t آپ dare hurt my boyfriend!”
“Well I gave him a fair warning, didn’t I lassie?” Glomgold replied.
“Humph! آپ don’t deserve to be in my gossip magazine!” گلبہار, گل داؤدی کہا very haughtily.
Back in the mine, after his charge that sent the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys running in fear, Scrooge’s ankle was now throbbing مزید than ever. Suddenly he could not stand the pain a moment longer and collapsed on the ground. Minnie saw this and immediately rushed to his aid. “Oh dear! Are آپ alright!?” she exclaimed as she came over.
“Aye…I’m fine,” Scrooge کہا trying to smile, despite the horrendous pain in his ankle.
When Minnie reached him, she bent down and started to unwrap his ankle, to get a better look at it. “Ugh! I’m fine Minnie. As I کہا earlier it’s just a wee sprain. Now let’s go,” he protested.
Despite Scrooge’s protests she managed to get his ankle unwrapped. She saw that it was now even مزید swollen than before. “Oh my, well…um… your ankle certainly doesn’t look fine,” she کہا feeling very worried.
“Nonsense,” he replied, as he tried to put on brave face, yet deep down he felt very frightened. “Now…um… we must keep moving we… can no let the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys get ahead of us,” he کہا trying to hide his intense pain.
Despite Scrooge’s efforts to hide his fear and pain Minnie could tell he was in great distress. She started to rub his injured ankle in hope to offer some relief to the pain, and wishing she could offer some comfort to his fears as well. But he continued to protest, so reluctantly she began to rewrap the severely swollen ankle. While she did this she was wondering what would be best to do. Uncle Scrooge was in no shape to face the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys, so would it be better if he stayed here while she went back to the cabin? But, she couldn’t stand the idea of leaving her friend alone here in his present state. And of course he was so stubborn anyway, even if she tried she’d never be able to convince him that he wasn’t fit to take on the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys.
While Scrooge sat there he was deep on thought also. Though he didn’t want to admit it, having taken on Glomgold and the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys before, Scrooge knew he likely was not up for the challenge. The بیگل, بیاگلی Boys were of course, cowardly and stupid making them easier to beat. But they were still a concern, because they were very large men who would fight if they knew they had the upper hand. Glomgold, on the other hand, was another matter entirely. He was an evil, master criminal, who would stop at nothing to get his way.
Scrooge also feared greatly for Minnie’s safety. Because, he knew that he likely would not be able to protect Minnie from any danger, in his condition. Yet he felt like he had to offer her some sort of assurance, that things would be all right. He could not let her know how frightened he was, and how awful he felt.
Then Scrooge began to think about how this trip had started just as an innocent camping trip for Webby’s chickadee, چاککدی troop. He also thought about how worried he had been at the idea of his wee Webbigail camping without him. Suddenly tears came into his eyes, and started to roll down his cheeks. He quickly brushed them away.
He felt ashamed of himself that he would look like a hypersensitive, crying coward in front of his friend, when he should be offering her assurance. And he knew that he had to stay strong for Minnie’s sake and the sake of everyone back at the cabin. Fearing that Minnie would see him crying, he tried to fight them back, and hold it as best he could. But it didn’t matter because مزید and مزید tears quickly began to roll down his face.
Minnie soon noticed this. “Oh dear…” she said, wishing she could think of something positive to say.
Hearing Minnie, and now knowing that she had indeed seen him crying, Scrooge felt even مزید embarrassed. Quickly and without thinking he snapped, “I was not crying!”
Minnie leaned over and hugged him, “That’s nothing to be ashamed of,” she said.
“Bah! Only spineless, weak-kneed cowards cry!” he replied angrily, while still trying to hold back his tears. Then he quickly tried push away from her. Suddenly he couldn’t hold in the tears any longer and began to cry again. “And apparently I’m turning into one of those…spineless, weak-kneed cowards, which I’ve always despised,” he said.
Minnie was a bit surprised سے طرف کی this at first, because she had never seen Scrooge actually cry. She thought she had seen him shed a tear once when he was very stressed and worried about Webby, but not like this. But the shock quickly wore off. And she continued to hug him while he cried onto her shoulder. “Uncle Scrooge you’re not a coward,” she کہا trying to comfort him, and wishing she could think مزید of something encouraging to say.
“Oh, where did I go wrong?” he کہا between sobs, “If I hadn’t agreed to let the wee Chickadees use me cabin…none of would have happened. And of course, the only reason I did agree to that, was so I come along and keep me wee Webbigail safe…”
“Oh, so what about all that آپ کہا about coming along to keep an eye on your valuables?” Minnie asked.
Scrooge, now feeling even مزید ashamed of himself, stopped crying for a moment and replied in shaky voice, “Um…I may have told a wee lie. I didn’t want to appear to be one of those overprotective parent-types, so using me کیبن gave me an easy excuse.”
“Oh, I kind of suspected that was the real reason why آپ decided to come,” Minnie replied.
He groaned, “Oh, if only I had believed Webbigail about the ghosts.”
Minnie sighed, “Unfortunately, remember none of the adults believed the children about the ghosts.”
Ignoring her, he sighed, “And ye can see how well trying to protect Webbigail has worked out for me. Now all the wee Chickadees and Woodchucks are in the hands of Glomgold and those بیگل, بیاگلی Boys, not to mention, me nephews and me wee Webbigail. And you’re in danger too. Oh, I’m a failure as an uncle and as a friend.” Then, in spite of his efforts to hold in his tears, he began to sob again. This time he didn’t bother trying to stop the tears because he knew Minnie had seen them, and knew he had no dignity left to save now. “I-I don’t if I’ll ever get to see them again یا if they’re still alive right now. I-I-it’s all me fault.”
“Uncle Scrooge, look at me!” Minnie said, firmly, while Scrooge continued to cry onto her shoulder, “You’re not a failure. Why, you’re one of the bravest men I know, and one of the best friends. I mean, just now آپ protected me from those بیگل, بیاگلی Boys, even though آپ could barely walk. If that’s not brave and not a true friend, then I don’t know what is.” She paused for a moment and then added, “But آپ were right about one thing.”
Scrooge had stopped crying, while listening to Minnie, and was now trying to dry his tear-stained face, “What’s that?”, he asked curiously, still trying to wipe the tears off his cheeks.
“There are some very valuable things that need protecting.” she replied. Then, much to his surprise, she gave him a kiss on one his tear-stained cheeks.
Suddenly Scrooge began to feel a lot مزید like his old self. Because despite the pain in his ankle, he still felt very capable of fighting. Maybe it was the encouraging pep talk Minnie had دیا him, یا possibly he just needed to rest a moment. But, whatever the reason was he felt much مزید alive.
Quickly he hugged her back, than feeling a little awkward, he cleared his throat and said, “Aye. Well… we better quit wasting time here chattering, ye know.”
So with the help of Minnie, he stood up. And they started to make their way slowly through the cave again. All the while Scrooge was being very careful not to put any weight on his injured, swollen ankle.
Then, all of a sudden the two of them began to hear voices, “So…uh…who’s gonna tell the boss we’s failed again?” کہا one of them, “’Cause I ain’t doin’ it.”
Then another shouted, “Well I ain’t doin’ it neither! I did it last time!”
“Well, I ain’t gonna tell ‘im,” کہا a third one, “And سے طرف کی the way do ya’ll ‘member which way to that short cut to McDuck’s کیبن the boss showed us?”
Scrooge and Minnie immediately recognized them as the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys voices. When they heard what the بیگل, بیاگلی Boys were saying, both of them had the same thought. “Should we follow…?” Minnie started to ask.
But Scrooge shushed her, “shh…Aye,” he whispered.
