cassie-1-2-3 I think the most popular screencap I've added (that I've noticed) has 7,438 views, as of right now.

cassie-1-2-3 I do think it probably takes some time for the screencaps to start collecting hundreds of views, but when they are found, the views increase rapidly. The screencap I mentioned above was posted 1 years ago, but in the past 15 minutes, the views went up to 7,455 views (+17), and I only refreshed once, so only one of those views is me.

misanthrope86 Given how few views screencaps get in other fansite galleries, you'd think these screencaps, and the thousands like them, would be some of Fanpop's greatest success stories. Maybe if we suggest a cap with a fluffy kitty on it for uploading a screencap with more than a thousand views, they will let us keep the screencaps.

KateKicksAss Yes, this is impressive, I never thought Screencaps were this popular, but how long have most of these been around? If a Screencap's been around for a long time, 1000+ views isn't that impressive. And I could show you plenty of pages of Screencaps with next to no views. Okay, sorry, I just had to play the devils advocate here. Kind of.....

misanthrope86 Well you could argue that icons should also go, because they accumulate views over time. Many millions of icons have no views at all, especially since a lot of people use the list view for icons in particular. If success is measured by the quick accumulation of views, then the porn photos and Lady Gaga crotch-shots that get posted to Fanpop are the most successful, therefore Fanpop should become a porn site...? And when you compare these views to views on specific fansite galleries, these view numbers are pretty impressive. I know, because I posted them, that the Tomb Raider screencaps featured in this image have only be up for about a year, and I'm thrilled that they got, and are still getting, lots of views. And they get those views because they are highly accessible, unlike buried galleries within galleries within galleries within an Angelina Jolie fansite or movie screencaps database.

KateKicksAss I never said Screencaps SHOULD go or anything, I just felt like I had to play the devils advocate and rebut this post. And honestly, Fanpop is one of the ONLY websites I've ever seen Screencaps on, so I guess it's important that they're somewhere, :P

KateKicksAss Don't you just love a good debate? Okay, now to (jokingly) rebut the rebut of the rebuttal: If we really want to save space, the Icons should totally go. Screencaps and Icons definitely have the lowest pageviews/accumulate views over time. So since the Screencaps are going, why don't the icons go too? I mean, icons are all over the place.....livejournal, photobucket, etc. Most people probably just re-post Icons they find anyways. And really. Screencaps are quite useless. I mean, why not just watch the movie/TV episode/Music video they're from? It's a lot quicker than flipping through pages and pages of Screencaps. And anyways, why bother to make Fan Art out of Screencaps anyways? You said that's what they're used for mainly, right? Well, why not save time and not bother making Fan Art either? It'll save you plenty of time and effort, and tons of other people make Fan Art anyways-just go look at someone elses!
