According to one of our sources, filming is (or soon will be) underway for
season 6 at Tollymore Forest Park in Co. Down, Northern Ireland.
We already knew that filming was expected to begin for the upcoming season around mid-July, so this news would seem to fit in with that report.
Our source noted that there are approximately forty trucks assembled at the location, ready for a shoot. Although
is closed until July 15th, it seems as though filming may still be going ahead. This could potentially indicate that the scene involves lead actors. Interestingly, the signs used to denote the filming site are pink, depicting the head of a fox. Florents, perhaps, or simply a throwaway image to dissuade all but the most observant fans?
This year, the showrunners are adding a lot of new locations to the long list of gorgeous vistas and cities they already use, but Tollymore is more familiar to us. It has been extensively used in the past, as Ramsay’s hunting grounds, the Haunted Forest north of the Wall, the woods where the Starks find the direwolves, and more.
Note that the images used above are not of the filming itself.
What do you think? Will the park stand in for somewhere we’ve already seen, or be a new location entirely? It’s certainly a visual change from all the yellows and browns we’ve seen recently with news of other filming locations.

Maybe it has to do with Sansa and Theon? Based on what it’s been used for before it seems like it would be a “Northern” locale. If it’s just those two, there wouldn’t be a need for extras.
Another slim possibility is Sam and Gilly while they’re en route to Oldtown. I say slim because it would make more sense to just show them arriving in Oldtown, unless something big happens on the way.
Rickon finally turning up again. If it’s for a later episode, maybe Davos hears about Rickon being alive and goes to search for him, picking up with his book storyline.
Honestly, that could be anything with the right special effects added.
My first feelings tended towards Deepwood Motte, the Wolfswood or to some BwoB-shenanigans in the Riverlands…could be used for all of them as much as I know.
Looks beautiful, that is maybe the only thing I can say concerning this place which is confirmed…
