Am I the only one who doesn’t hate Evan from Monster Blood and Sarah from The Curse of Camp Cold Lake? They’re the two most hated GB protagonists, but I actually kind of sympathise with them.
Evan gets a lot of flack for constantly bringing back the monster blood and trying to use it, it that’s actually untrue. Andy’s the one who keeps bringing it back and trying to convince Evan to use it, and he only agrees to use it once, in the third book. In the سیکنڈ book she even goes behind his back and uses it on Cuddles despite promising him not to. But for some reason, Evan gets misblamed for this and Andy is one of the most مقبول characters in the series for some reason.
Evan also gets hated for being whiny, but I think he has a right to be. His life sucks! Seriously, he can’t catch a break. His parents keep abandoning him to aunts who don’t like him, Conan relentlessly bullies him even after he saves his life in the سیکنڈ book, Kermit constantly plays pranks on him and then lies about it to Aunt Dee, and Andy keeps bringing back the monster blood that he already has nightmares about. He gets electrocuted at one point, beaten up, used in his cousin’s science experiments, mocked سے طرف کی his teacher in front of the whole class...the فہرست goes on and on. Are آپ seriously telling me آپ wouldn’t complain after all that? I’d even go so far as to say that Evan’s the biggest Woobie in the series.
He also saves his bully’s life. Even after Conan beats him up, trips him over, ruins his chances of being on the باسکٹ, باسکٹ بال team, and torments him at every opportunity, Evan still decides to rescue him. And not only that, he does this سے طرف کی using the thing that nearly killed him and he constantly had nightmares about. Say what آپ will about him being whiny, but آپ can’t deny that’s pretty impressive. And what does Conan do to repay him? Go right back to tormenting him.
And not only that: In the third book when Evan becomes a giant and finally has the chance to get revenge on Conan, what does he do? He puts him on a درخت and crushes his skateboard. That’s it. If آپ were Evan, wouldn’t آپ do way مزید to torment the guy who bullied آپ even after آپ saved his life? If I was in his place, Conan would be lucky if I didn’t beat him to a pulp to get back at him for all the times he beat me up.
Now moving on to Sarah. She gets hated for causing the rift between her bunkmates, but I think they did مزید to cause it than her. Spongey444 explains it better in his review of her book (you should check his Goosebumps reviews out, they’re really funny and have barely any comments, plus he reviews obscure کتابیں like Horrorland and Most Wanted) but basically, here’s the things she gets hated for:
- Spilling Jan’s bag and revealing she has asthma
- “Insulting” Meg’s height
- making Briana give up her bed
The first one, dick move, I admit. But she apologised for it and thanked Briana for giving up her بستر for her. It certainly didn’t warrant how the others treated her.
The سیکنڈ one was an accident, that she apologised for. It’s not like Sarah revealed that Jan still wore diapers and then mocked her for it. Plus, why did Jan want to keep her asthma a secret, anyway? It’s not like it’s some deep embarrassing secret. And none of the other girls judge یا make fun of her for it.
The last one: Sarah didn’t really insult Meg’s height. Meg was the one who complained about her height in the first place, saying she was too short. Sarah tried to insert herself into the conversation and maybe make Meg feel better سے طرف کی saying she was stared at for being tall. Meg snapped at her, saying “boo hoo, would آپ rather be a shrimp”? Sarah tried to agree with her سے طرف کی saying “no”, but that came across as “insulting” her. Sarah was trying her hardest to be nice, but it came off to Meg as rudeness. If Sarah had actually made fun of how short meg was, that would be insulting her, but she didn’t.
In all these instances, Sarah isn’t trying to antagonise anyone یا be rude یا a bully, she’s just kind of clumsy and socially awkward. But to hear some people talk, you’d think she was like Judith Bellwood from Be Careful What آپ Wish For. None of those things warranted what they did to her. True, putting spiders in their بستر in retaliation wasn’t the best move, but she was willing to start over with them when they offered, until it turned out to be a ploy to put a snake on her back.
Sarah is actually really nice. She thanks Briana for giving up her بستر for her, is grateful to Liz and Briana for saving her life, feels bad when she yells at Della and realises Briana thought she was yelling at her, immediately forgives her bunkmates for the way they’ve treated her even though last time they apologised they were lying, and trusts Jan enough to go on the lake with her even after she tried to drown her last time. The last two imply that she’s a fairly forgiving person and doesn’t hold grudges, which is مزید than can be کہا for her bunkmates.
She even decides to return to Camp Cold Lake اگلے سال to warn the اگلے camper against being Della’s buddy, even though she hates water and sports. She could've easily gone ہوم and just tried to forget everything that happened, as most people would have done if they'd been nearly murdered سے طرف کی a ghost at a camp, but instead she decided to try to stop other people from going through what she did.

R.l Stein has created the world's most chilling series ever. It must have taken allot of thought and effort to create something child friendly but spooky. Goosebumps brings horror to a whole knew level. The کتابیں are fan-tabby-dosie!!! The TV series is good, but it is lacking the تفصیل that a book has. I don't know how to describe something so out of this world.!!!!!!!!!!!
