Stars Daniel Radcliffe Emma Watson and Rupert Grint all donned the red blooms. They were joined سے طرف کی attendees Tom Felton and Ralph Fiennes and none other than J.K. Rowling herself — and not just because they looked dapper. The flowers have a special meaning in England.

While شائقین of the movie may think of the debut as "Harry Potter" Day, it was actually Remembrance Day, یا پوست دن in the U.K.

Remembrance دن was first marked سے طرف کی King George V back in 1919, as a way to honor those who died fighting in World War I. A poem, "In Flanders Fields," where the flowers bloomed on the battlefields of Flanders, gave life to the symbol of the red flower. The red color of the bud was a telling memento for spilled blood.

Similar to Memorial دن in the U.S., it's a time to honor those who have lost their lives in war. And wearing the red پھول is still a tradition.

Searches on "remembrance day" were up 200% in one day. "Remembrance دن poppy", "remembrance دن پوست clip art" and "remembrance دن poems" also saw large gains.

That's why the stars of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" wore their red flowers, even while on the red carpet.
