When was the diadem of Ravenclaw mentioned, before Deathly Hallows?

I decided to listen to MuggleCast, and listen to some of the very first episodes. They were discussing what would happen in DH, and they mentioned the diadem of Ravenclaw? Maybe I'm a lousy Potterhead, but I can't remember when the diadem of Ravenclaw is mentioned, before DH. Help please!! OIf آپ can, can آپ give the chapter it was in, یا the (British) page reference

No I think it was after Fred died because I remember when Severus snape killed dumbledore

It was described in Halfblood Prince, in the Room of Requirement when Harry went to hide the Potions textbook. He used it to mark where he'd hidden the book so he could retrieve it later. It wasn't called Ravenclaw's diadem at the time though, just a diadem. During the Battle of Hogwarts Harry remembered it and guessed it could be the diadem he was searching for.
