JOANNA LUMLEY: Stars as Patsy Stone in BBC comedy Absolutely Fabulous

Jennifer Saunders is said to be working on a script for the big screen adaptation of BBC comedy Absolutely Fabulous and is keen to have X Factor\'s Harry Styles on board.

One Direction\'s heartthrob Harry could indeed be starring as Joanna Lumley\'s love interest in the AbFab movie, well, as long as Jennifer Saunders gets her way.

Insiders claim the star is desperate to land the 21-year-old singer.

The 57-year-old stars as PR guru Edina Monsoon opposite Lumley\'s Patsy Stone and is currently writing away on the exciting new project.

A source told the Sun: "Jennifer has told friends she wants Harry to be part of the movie.

"She\'s got some great cameos in the bag already, but wants to give the film a young, hipster edge."

Names like Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham have also been linked to the project, but apparently Harry is their main target for a possible on-screen hook-up for man-eater Patsy.

The source continued: "If she can find a way to work him into the script then Patsy could have a new bit of totty to chase."

Saunders confirmed at the start of the year that she has been working on the script and both Julia Sawalha and June Whitfield would reprise their roles as daughter Saffy and mum respectfully.

She told the Sunday People: "I\'ve finished the first draft. I\'m feeling euphoric. My proper New Year\'s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it\'ll be a pointless year of procrastination."

It wouldn\'t be a bad move for the X Factor star either, as he has been tipped for movie success when One Direction go on their hiatus next year after the release of their fifth studio album.

A source explained: "He loves being in the band but he wants to start exploring his other passions too.

"Harry has been seeing an acting coach every time he’s in LA and is incredibly focused on a move to the big screen.

"His actor friends, including Scrubs star Zach Braff, have also been giving him tips, but it was Cara [Delevingne] who pointed him in Sharon’s direction."
