That's why Italy is #1.

I never pay attention to the appearance.

It differs for me. In the start, I love the characters for their personality. However, I tend to draw most of the characters, and if I find a character's outer appearence fun to draw, I eventually end up loving the character.

That is mostly the reason KugelMugel scores so high on my favorite character list.

Personality always~ Not just Hetalia but for every anime I watch~ -smiles- I never go for appearances. If a character becomes my favourite it's because I adore their personality and everything that makes them tick~

Don't even really pay attention to appearances.

I think the personality is what matters most but I would also prefer the character not to be boring and plain looking. If appearances really didn't matter, people wouldn't put any effort into designing characters. People have always loved things that are aesthetically pleasing or just look interesting, that's why we still look back on works done by people such as Leonardo Da Vinci. That doesn't make you shallow unless the looks are the ONLY thing you care about. The personality does matter more though because no matter how good or creative the designs are, if the characters are boring/annoying, I will come to dislike them.

This is the reason I love Norway. I like guys with chill, serious, attitudes... =w=

And looks. :) But mostly personality

That is why Italy and America are my favorite characters in the first place
