Twenty-four years after the BBC aired its 1971 version of Jane Austen’s 1818 novel, ”Persuasion”; and twelve years before ITV aired its adaptation; Columbia Pictures released its own version on British ویژن ٹیلی and in movie theaters across the U.S. The movie went on to become highly acclaimed, the winner of a BAFTA TV award for Best Single Drama, and regarded as the definitive version of Austen’s novel.

Directed سے طرف کی Roger Michell, ”PERSUASION” told the story of Anne Elliot, the middle daughter of an impoverished baronet in Regency England. Seven یا eight...

Man considers himself the creator of all, even god for that matter! He thinks of himself as the master of his destiny, the controller of all events and the ultimate doer!

All of this is completely true! But one thing goes missing in this theory. It is the fact that man, to do everything that he does, has to fall upon something for motivation and inspiration.

Different strokes for different folks may be the case here, but one stroke that stands common is movies. Accept it یا deny it, فلمیں play a very important role in motivating a man. Not only do they motivate us, they also assist us in developing...

"NORTHANGER ABBEY" (1986) Review

Most movie and ویژن ٹیلی adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels are either highly acclaimed یا perhaps even liked سے طرف کی شائقین and critics alike. I can only think of two یا three adaptations that have been dismissed them. And one of them happened to be the 1986 A&E Network/BBC adaptation of Austen’s 1817 novel, "Northanger Abbey".

Adapted سے طرف کی Maggie Wadey, "NORTHANGER ABBEY" follows the experiences of seventeen-year-old Gothic novel aficionado, Catherine Morland, who is invited سے طرف کی her parents’ friends, Mr. and Mrs. Allen, to accompany them on a visit to Bath,...

"MANSFIELD PARK" (1983) Review

Long before Patricia Rozema wrote and directed her 1999 adaptation of "Mansfield Park", Jane Austen’s 1814 novel, the BBC aired its own adaptation some sixteen years earlier. This one came in the form of a six-part miniseries and is regarded سے طرف کی many Austen شائقین as the definitive screen version of the novel.

"MANSFIELD PARK" told the story of Fanny Price, the oldest daughter of a former Royal Navy officer, who is sent سے طرف کی her parents to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle-in-law, Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram, at their estate called Mansfield Park, during the early...

"PERSUASION" (1971) Review

This adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1818 novel turned out to be the first of the old Jane Austen ویژن ٹیلی adaptations that the BBC aired during the 1970s and 80s. Produced and directed سے طرف کی Howard Baker, and adapted سے طرف کی Julian Mitchell; this two-part miniseries starred Ann Firbanks and Bryan Marshall.

As many شائقین of Austen’s novel would know, ”PERSUASION” told the story of Anne Elliot, the middle daughter of a vain and spendthrift baronet, who finds herself reunited with her former finance, a Naval officer of lesser birth named Frederick Wentworth. Eight years...

SOCIAL CLASS AND THE BENNET FAMILY IN "PRIDE AND PREJUDICE"

Considering how long I have been a پرستار of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, "PRIDE AND PREJUDICE" and its numerous ویژن ٹیلی and movie adaptations, I am surprised that I have never considered something about its heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, and her family. Ever since I have been reading numerous مضامین about the novel and its adaptations, I have noticed that many have labeled the Bennet family as members of the middle-class یا the upper middle-class in Regency England. And it finally occurred to me that many of these شائقین were in error....
