The ‘Once Upon A Time’ premiere is tonight, Sept. 27, so HollywoodLife.com is refreshing your memory about your favorite characters from the show before the big episode!
season 4 finale. From Emma (Jennifer Morrison) becoming the Dark One to Regina (Lana Parilla) reuniting with Robin (Sean Maguire), a lot has happened to our beloved characters. Before the season 5 premiere, take a trip down memory lane to remember how your fan favorites fared in the finale!
Emma — In the final moments of the season 4 finale, Emma made the ultimate sacrifice for Regina. Rather than letting Regina become the Dark One after she’d fought so hard for a happy ending, Emma allowed the darkness the consume her. Emma became the new Dark One. She knew her family and loved ones would find a way to save her. She also said “I love you” to Hook for the very first time!
alternate universe. Thankfully, it wasn’t real life. At the end of the episode, the Apprentice pulled the darkness from Rumple, but it had to find a host. At first, it began consuming Regina, but Emma stepped in. Before she let herself become the Dark One, she looked at Hook and said, “I love you.” It was the sweetest and most heartbreaking moment in Captain Swan history.
Regina — The reformed evil queen got a little taste of what it was like being a hero in the finale. In the final moments, it looked as if Regina was going to take over being the Dark One from Rumple, but Emma sacrificed herself for Regina. Regina deserved her happy ending, and she was finally able to be with Robin once and for all. Zelena’s pregnant, but Regina made sure she couldn’t hurt anyone else.
Rumple/Mr. Gold — Like Regina, Rumple got a taste of the hero side in the alternate reality. But back in Storybrooke, Rumple wasn’t faring so well. Rumple’s heart was turning to black, and he would be gone soon if nothing was done. He admitted that he didn’t believe anyone could ever love him, but Belle proved him wrong. The Apprentice was able to trap the darkness in Rumple’s heart into a hat, while Rumple lay frozen with magic. Even though his heart is pure now, he could die because he’s been the Dark One for so long. Will he survive in season 5?
Snow/Mary Margaret and Charming/David — These two didn’t have a whole lot to do in the finale. However, we did get to see how these two would be if they were very, very bad. After weeks of drama from keeping their big Maleficent secret from Emma, Snow and Charming were finally at a good place with their daughter. But life threw a wrench into things with Emma becoming the new Dark One.
Henry — In case you’ve been living under a rock, Henry is the new Author. He had to right all the wrongs in the
alternate reality, giving Henry more than he’s had to do in months. Back in real life, Henry realized that the power to change reality was too much for anyone to have, so he broke the Author’s quill in half.
