OH MY GOD THIS QUESTION! There is no way mark would sacrifice the ending that he has always wanted for his show just because chad and sophia were dating in real life. As I've said before. The "chophia" split may have caused brucas to split SOONER than expected... But mark would never base something as big as an ENDGAME outcome around the actors' personal lives. I'm sorry but that logic is just ridiculous... this is a fictional tv show.

the characters Brooke and Lucas are different from Chad and Sophia. if their CHARACTERS were really meant to be together, and if Mark really wanted to end his show that way... then he could have, and he would have. Chad and Sophia are professionals. i'm sure they knew what they were getting themselves into when they started their relationship.

its common sense that they wouldnt expect the writing of the show to completely revolve around them. the fact that anyone would honestly think that mark would revolve the ending of his show around the actors' personal lives is hilarious to me... I wonder about people sometimes

I'll keep it simple: Watch the old interview with mark in like 2003 before the pilot aired. He already had the 409 script written and he said that if the show lasted that long, he was really looking forward to that script coming to life. Get it? 409 - Leyton finding their way back? The interview in the season 4 box set I believe - seeing as how the script did end up coming to life. So it shows how the show did make it that far :)

And 6 years later, Mark said that the seeds for leyton had been planted from the beginning and that he had their ending planned since the pilot. Those words spoken "I'll be seein ya" were very significant, Mark said. Rewatch the series and look at all the hints that pointed to Leyton in every season. It's there for you to see - just watch and listen :)

brucas fans wish that they could blame brucas not being endgame on chad and sophias breakup... But at the end of the day, we all know the real truth. And that is that Brooke and Lucas just were never the characters that were meant to end up together, those characters were Lucas and peyton. That was CLEARLY the plan from the beginning, and mark had every reason to stick with that plan, despite the actors' personal relationships outside of the show. This concept that Brooke and Lucas would have ended up together if chad and sophia were still together is utterly ridiculous, and obviously just wishful thinking and denial on some of the brucas fans' parts

I'm sorry but a lot of you LP fans need to stop sipping the sunkist. Mark lies plain and simple. If CS had never divorced then you can't say for sure what would have happebed. Mark may have designed this world where LP were supposedly always meant to be, but Brucas happened. People fell for them hard and they had a nice, solid build-up that was well accepted by a majority of the fans.

If personal lives hadn't interfered, BL would have had just as good a chance as LP at being endgame. I'm so tired of hearing people try and give that line about "We never ever catered a storyline to them" BULLSHIT!!! That's EXACTLY what he did with there breakup. If you honestly think that he didn't take the cowards way out with their breakup then you are crazy.

I'm not in any way saying that the breakup wasn't going to happen, even way back in S2 when it became apparent that Lucas was falling for Brooke, i always figured that LP would eventually get another shot as well, but after S2 & S3, everything BL went through, the love they both proclaimed for each other... To give us such a shitty excuse for a breakup is just bullshit.

Mark made it so obvious that he didn't want to do the big emotional scene we deserved, and that would have made sense. All I'm saying is look at 3x22, look at the raw emotion Brooke delivered, "I am not pushing you away Lucas, I am holding on for dear life but i need you to need me back." // "And why won't you EVER just let me all the way in??

Sophia herself said it on the commentary, Brooke was CRUSHED. That doesn't just disappear a few hours later. If Mark wasn't altering the storyline because of Chophia's breakup, we would have had a much better BL breakup. There's even plenty of LP fans who have admitted the breakup just didn't make sense. The whole "Somewhere along the way i stopped missing you"... How the hell does that fit with everything Brooke said in 3x22, which was supposed to be the same fucking day as 4x01!!

And fyi, 322 does tie with 401. she was broken hearted because lucas wasn't the man she needed him to be for her. Remember what Brooke said in 321? "It's funny - I'm not as dependent on him as I thought." (That was after her disappointment when luke again pushed her away by not calling when he was gone - 320). That ties with "I stopped missing you."
And yeah, she said she was hanging on for dear life. As in she was trying to have a relationship with lucas that doesn't exist. She was trying to have an open, honest, deep relationship with lucas but he'd given her a wave of inadequacies time and time again - that ties with 401 "I feel like I'm hanging onto us to protect you from all those things. Like I'm hanging onto the two of us for you, and not for me." She had brushed his "limitations" as a boyfriend aside when all the tragedy hit with Keith, his heart condition, and basketball. She hung onto the idea of her and lucas, but in reality, the idea never fully came into fruition, which broke brooke's heart. Somewhere along the lines she realized she deserved better than half a relationship. She deserved the whole package - lucas wasn't giving that to her. They grew since season 2 - brucas slowly grew apart between season 3 and 4.
P.S. Remember brooke breaking up with lucas was also partly because she knew she was standing in leyton's way.

Exactly abs07. Just because brucas fans may have been let down by the breakup and it wasn't what they expected... Doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. I for one saw ALL of it coming, and thought that everything that Brooke said made perfect sense, and was completely evident throughout seasons 3-4. But facts are facts, if people for some reason want to believe that mark "lies", then so be it I guess... But his story has been the same ever since season 1. He never ONCE denied that leyton were meant to be and that he wanted them in the end. So to me that makes him seem pretty believable... But whatever lol
