Kowalski: They're not gems, they're eggs, or somewhat containers that put the scarabs in a sleeping like suspended state. Anyone who touches them could accidentally release those things, causing a sudden infestation of man eating scarabs.

Kowalski: Yes, but those scarabs were contained in the walls, not in gem like containers.

Kowalski: Simple answer to that question really, the Egyptians built that room to ward off grave robbers from stealing the real treasure, which to my best guess, would be located 6 feet above where we're standing
