Picks Article: Adding جوابات to Other Picks...

I know this has been کہا before, but it has been bothering me for a long time, and when something builds up I have to get it out somehow :D

Let me start سے طرف کی saying that I love when people add جوابات to the picks I make...It's awesome that we have that option because often times I forget an answer, یا someone comes up with something مزید creative, etc...
But, there are a few things that I've been noticing about adding جوابات for a while, and I wanted to put it out there.

I understand that the point of a pick is, well, to pick something. Therefore it's a bit annoying when someone adds an answer like:

1. I Don't Know
2. Both/All
3. I Don't Care
4. Neither/None
5. I Can't Decided
6. Inappropriate Answers

(I have seen all of these option added to picks)

1. This one irritates me the most. If آپ don't know then don't pick anything! It's not necessary to answer every single pick.
2. "Both" یا "All" kind of take away from the point of a pick in the first place. I know most of the times I would like to pick مزید than one answer but that's even better, it means the pick is really good! So just think about it for a bit...
3. If آپ don't care then why are آپ answering? I think it's actually a bit rude when people add that answer.
4. If آپ don't like any of the answers, then don't pick any of the جوابات (links to #1)
5. If آپ want to add in the تبصرے that آپ can't decide then go ahead, but don't make it an answer to the pick.
6. I don't know how many people think these options are funny, but every time it has happened on one of my picks I have deleted that option.

One last thing I have noticed that has bothered me is when someone goes to a spot, clicks on the pick, goes down to comments, and they take their time to write "I hate (name of the spot)".
... If آپ hate it why did آپ take the time to go in it and تبصرہ on a pick?

I hope I didn't offend anyone, because for the most part I LOVE the جوابات added to picks! But I've seen those examples too many times and I think it takes a way from the point of a pick.

maybeastarbucks Yes. Agreed. Also I hate it when people add "all" or "none" because I make picks because I want people to choose the best of the best or the worst of the worst.

kathiria82 That is the exact reason why I rarely let people add answers to my picks. What is the point of a pick if you are going to add I Don't Know, Both/All, I Don't Care, Neither/None, I Can't Decide or Inappropriate Answers? Doesn't it say pick, so then just pick one or don't answer the pick. If they add choices like the ones you mentioned then I just remove them, I don't care if they think it's mean. Great article.

Snerkie i agree to an extent. I add "all of them" to some of the picks i created because it can attack your mind so badly to just choose one, lol. The "i don't like any" is sometimes okay i think to share an opinion that you like none (example; movies, they say a what movie you like from an actor, you realise you didn't enjoy any of their movies so you're telling them) it's not mean, unless they get all cranky and potty mouthed but it's an opinion and can be done in an appropriate way. Best option is if you have enough time, try and figure out all the options for the pick (movies for an actor are easy) and if someone wanted another option then you can add it later (right?)

alinazeer I am agree with snerkie i also dont like all of the above or none type answers but some places it works so that means it doesnt apply everywhere and i am not agree with kathiria you should give option to add answers to users and if you dont like the answer you can delete it later and thats totally not mean to delete it but atleast give us an opportunity to add.

kathiria82 Well I would prefer to let people add to my picks alinazeer but sometimes people add ridiculous or even crude options.

knifewrench I don't like it when people add an option that is really similar to a choice that is already there, it just makes the vote innacurate.

x-Kissez-x You are right but if you like something equally then you have a right to say. If you don't like people adding answers, don't click the box that enables them to!

neeki I completely agree. It also really annoys me when people can't spell things right or don't add a picture when you've taken the time to do so yourself. And yes occasionally "All" etc. does apply but the majoriy of times it's just irritating.

Snerkie neeki, judging by your picks you sometimes can't find a picture that'll suit right. Not everyone can find things that'll fit the pick or even can spell well because of english barriers (thought there are people that prefer to use "txt speak" instead of typing real words which can be sometimes difficult to understand)

Storn You can just write that in comments, or maybe add the answer yourself.

Priscilita22 I don't mean to sound like I don't like it when people add answers cause that's not true at all... that is why I almost always enable people to add. And true, "none" might sometimes work (if you are in the movies spot and you don't like any of the movies by a certain actor) But you could also say that in the comments. And choosing "all" takes away from the point of a pick. If you like something equally then it's even better! You have a harder time choosing... but choose, because both takes away. There are many times when I like something "equally" but that's the point, to pick which on is the "best of the best" of "worst of the worst" like maybeastarbucks said.

grahamb I soo agree with neeki and yeahisawsparks. Not Adding pictures to a pick when the pick maker took the time to do so bugs me, its just polite and makes the pick presentation that much butter. If your going to do something then do it properly

neeki Snerkie it's true that once or twice i've make picks that don't have pictures. That's because they have so many options and my internet is too slow to upload them. This is about adding to already made picks and if a pick already has pictures it's not that hard to add a picture to the one option you're adding, since the person who made it spent the time to look for good pictures. If a pick has pictures and I add an option, I always put an picture with it. I understand if they can't speak English, of course they are going to make mistakes! I just think some people are too lazy to spell properly which makes it hard for others to read and is just an annoying addition to a pick. I guess i'm old fashioned and prefer to spell properly.

nonames i agree with everything but the last part of the soapbox. Although i dont think ive ever written "i hate (insert here)" on a comment, i will click "NO" on picks in spots that im not a fan of but have appeared in the recent picks spot. But i definately dont go searching on spots that i dont like. And really, if ur a fan of, let say the office (just because i love the office), why would u put a pick (in the Office fan spot), "Do you like the Office?" Because if your a fan of that spot, of course you like the office! So im assuming that they want other people to say if the like or dislike (insert name here).

aceofspader There's one pick on the Random spot called How do you pronounce it? and the original options were Ketchup, Catsup and Both, but a bunch of people added ridiculous options like dead horse and stuff like that. Now the pick is just a big mess.

This مضمون is basically bits and bats on what i think make a brilliant pick just that little bit extra sparkly...i don't suppose it has any real purpose but hopefully some of آپ will find it useful....or a amusing read :)

It may seem like a obvious thing but don't ask a pick for the sake of just asking a pick. Ask a pick to hear people's opinions یا to entertain.

A Guide to Choosing

Look at your first option.

-Is it convinient
-Is it appropriate
-Is it neccesarry
-Is it a good choice

If no to two یا مزید of the above questions, skip that option. Look at the اگلے and ask yourself the same questions. آپ may find the other option similar, inappropriate, unnessary, not a good choice and inconvinient.
So, if the other choice is worse than the first option, skip that choice, and just go with option no.1.
If the سیکنڈ choice is as good as یا better than the first, consider it.

It should be convinient for آپ and others through change. How and will it benefit people, how, and will?...

My latest pick pet peeve is not opinionated picks. They have been popping up frequently and are beginning to irk me almost as much as repeat picks. In case آپ don't know what I am talking about, not opinionated picks are picks that ask سوالات to which there is only one answer. These can range from inquiring when the اگلے episode of a دکھائیں in airing to asking what the full name of a character is.

I assume that the people who create these picks just don't understand the purpose of a pick. Picks are not trivia سوالات nor are they a way to ask for factual information. If آپ wish to know when a new episode airs, I suggest posting it as a forum.

I'm sorry if this was at all offensive, but I figured that writing a soapbox was easier than giving the same spiel to every مصنف of a not opinionated pick.

Also, I am trying to think of a better name for this variety of picks rather than 'not opinionated picks'. Catchy names were never my forte.
