Well, it basically means the same. As Cinders said. But in my opinion, it is a difference. When آپ are "making love" it means مزید than "just sex". For example, in a relationship you're making love, cause آپ love eachother. But in like, a one night stand. You're having sex. Just sex. No love in the picture. Of course this is different for every person. Sex is sex, its that easy. But with making love, there are maybe مزید feelings there.
There is no difference. There are several terms for the act of intercourse, from the euphemisms to the downright crude. Among them:

I do agree that one night stands would just be considered just sex and not love making. The difference between the two in a relationship? I don't see one. Different people have different ideas on what "making love" is. My husband and I love rough sex, but we still love each other and I see the two as one.
