Not so much in 11x7 and 11x8, but it seemed really weird that he wasn't at least in 11x9. Not just because it was part of the season's main story arc (or whatever you want to call it), but because angels played a significant role in the episode and the whole Sam/God/Lucifer thing.

I guess we're just supposed to believe he's off in the bunker binging on Netflix. Which is bull. Sigh. I mean at least this time he's not off 'doing his own thing' where he was risking his life, but still.
