Sweeney Todd Why Toby killed Mr.Todd?

Really, why?
My friend tell me, he did it because Mr.Todd was evil, cruel and killed people. But I think, Toby killed Mr.Todd only because Mr.Todd killed Mrs. Lovett. Toby promised to protect Mrs. Lovett and he avenged for her.
Who right: I or my friend?

I believe that Toby knew that there was something up with Sweeney to begin with. But I think the main reason was that he killed Mrs. Lovett and Toby felt terrible that he couldn't keep his promise to not let anything harm her as long as he was around. It's sad really...for Sweeney,not Toby.I could care less about that kid lol
