Even if we hadn’t already seen footage of Tyler Posey and Shelley Hennig’s characters sharing a shower in the trailer for Season 6B, it was impossible to overlook the brief spark they ignited towards the end of Sunday’s episode, laying the groundwork for something more.

During a tense moment, while Malia was attempting to take away Scott’s pain, he assured her that Stiles (aka her ex-boyfriend 

his best friend) would be OK with them. Unfortunately, he passed out before he got a chance to explain what he meant by that.

“I was hesitant to do it at first,” executive producer Jeff Davis admits to TVLine. “We actually tested the waters between them in a scene in Episode 609. [Tyler and Shelley] were both up for the challenge.”

Davis knows there will be fans who oppose the new ‘ship, perhaps wishing that Scott and Malia could each reconnect with characters they’ve previously dated. To that, he says:

“The idea of there being one true love for everyone is nice, but it’s not realistic. Things happen in life that bring people together in unexpected ways. We’re big fans of going for the unexpected.”

I dunno,Malia and Stiles worked because they are both oddballs.Scott and Malia have very little in common.

Don’t have to have anything in common to like someone

No, but they don’t have any chemistry either. Shows have so many friendcestous relationships where characters just seem to swap partners between their core group of friends sometimes when it doesn’t even make sense. And if the writers have built that up and developed that relationship to the point that it makes sense then it becomes worth exploring, but this feels way too rushed because they’re rushing to the finish line. So nope to this.

“The show is ending and we need to pair the leftover main characters up”. Is basically what I’m hearing.

No one needs to get their ears checked FROM READING. And while that may not have been what they said there is such a thing as reading between the lines.

Even though if I have to be honest, I think Stiles ending up with Lidia is a better storyline than him reconnecting with Malia. This doesn’t mean that they needed to pair up Scott and Malia of course, they could have just stayed single…

how can you be big fans of the unexpected when you give us a relationship Stiles and Lydia purely based on shippers wanting it? that’s the most expected pairing on TW

They’ve been building toward Stiles and Lydia since episode one, so the idea of that possibility has been percolating since before any potential shipper laid eyes on the show. And as to the idea of satisfying shippers, well, it’s a large portion of the audience who wants it. When enough people are telling you what they’re seeing, it gets hard to deny. Unless you do so for the sole sake of stymying viewer expectation. If you want to keep eyes on the screen, you can’t just ignore the reasons they stick with you.

Ok Hold up… Few things, 1. Stiles and Lydia ending up together is an awesome story ending. Stiles and Lydia have been having a thing since episode 1 so they bound end up together. 2. Scott and Malia ending up together is also us awesome story ending for them. Not because we have to pair everyone up because it’s the last season but Scott has had so many girlfriends in the show and they all left him now that’s the last season we need to give him a happy ending and plus thry are adorable together… so yea

Well, I’m all for it because Stiles already sunk the boat with his still in love with Lydia after all these years things. Basically he was still holding out for Lydia while he was with Malia. And Scott really hasn’t had a great girlfriend for a while.

Let’s just say that Kira was a complete mess of a girlfriend, and Allison’s was the meaningful one.

You knew exactly who I was talking about, Kira. Those two were horrible together.

Scott and Malia work fine together. And if they’re not with each other, there really isn’t anyone else, despite any pipe dreams people are holding on to. Minus the subset of people who hate to see romance of any kind, this seems like an enjoyable relationship to get behind. Especially since we’ll only be getting sporadic Stiles and Lydia.

I honestly really like this pairing, I think Scott deserves to be happy after all the heart-break he has had.

I didn’t actually see the trailer for the season 6 part 2 with them being in the shower together until I saw this article. So for to see Scott hint that Styles would be okay for them to date, gave me a little excitement to see where they could go.

The only thing that didn’t make sense is, correct me if I’m wrong, he just blurts out and says it out of the blue. We had no indication that he thought of Malia that way in the past episodes.

Very true…. but i just kinda skipped over that loop hole just because i like them and i want them together…😂😂

Stiles and Malia worked. When did they even break up? I can see Stiles going back to his first crush, but no way Malia just bounces from that news to Scott.

Maybe in time…they could have hinted at the possibility but trying to make it real is just no.

Stiles loved Malia.. no doubt there but he loves Lydia more and even if Stalia wasn’t over, Malia would be a hell lot of a handful for Stiles…. besides Stydia is meant to be I’ve always shipped them!!!

Scott on the other hand is more dominant and maybe a tad bit more serious than Stiles…not😂

Anywho… I like the thought of Scott and Malia together; they’d make a hell of a power couple!!!

Jeff only did it cause Stydia fans would whine like crazy if they didn’t get it in the final season. He panders to Stydia quite often.

I’m more tham happy that they are gonna be together. i love Shelley and Tyler, and together , is like amazing.

So, Kira is not in 6B because they wanted to put Scott and Malia together? This is such BS. I’m glad this show is ending. Scott and Malia don’t go together. Hate me if u want, I don’t care.

Not at all. It is very weird because Malia was Stiles’ first real love and girlfriend so it’s so wrong to hookup his first love and his long time best friend together even though Stiles finally accepted and admitted his true feelings for Lydia.

honestly, i don’t even think stydia should be a thing because they are both so different. yes, stiles has had a crush on her since forever but their personalities are completely different. let’s face it, lydia is proper gorgeous and a freak(the good kind) and stiles is awkward and cute. scalia shouldn’t be a thing either because they’re different too. im down with stalia staying a thing and lydia and scott just staying single.

I truly have nothing against. But i dont like seeing them together I’m rather on Malia an Thoe being togther. Both Malia and Scott decivies happness so im okay with it

I like the pairing. I think Lydia and Stiles have that chemistry you can’t deny and lets face it, Scott and Kira were so boring. I think Malia could bring out the fun side of Scott. Good stuff!

I love both characters but what about Alison? I really hoped she was coming back for final season. The show was always about Scott and his first love and best friend stiles. Right?
