What happened to the hyenas?

Nuka says in The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, that the hyenas left. So as far as we know, the hyenas just left.

I kinda forgot since I haven't watched that movie in a long time, but I think they were scared of Simba and left, the only thing I think I remembered is that they ran when they left LOL.
