Sonequa Martin-Green has gone from battling zombies to morning sickness: she’s pregnant!

actress is expecting her first child — a boy! — with her husband, actor Kenric Green, her rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

“Kenric and I are beyond excited,” Martin-Green, who is due in January, tells PEOPLE.

“There’s nothing like running around fighting zombies in the Georgia heat to stay in shape while pregnant.”

The mom-to-be, 29 — who plays Sasha on the hit series, returning Oct. 12 on AMC — and Green met while auditioning for a play in 2009.
