I don't know why AB and the writers are making her come off as so naive and stupid. Sookie in the books definitely has more of an edge to her.

Well, from her side she didn't deserve it because she really believed he won't let her get hurt. From his side, even though he cares for her plenty, she must have annoyed him to hell when she babbled and he tried to think.

I think he needed to say what he did, Sookie was being stupid. Like when she asked Eric if he'd just been putting on an act for the king...She asked while they were stood right in front of some of the guards. What answer could Eric possibly give in front of them? "Yeah, I'm totally playing the boss of the guys stood two feet away, but I'm sure they wont tell him I admitted that" How stupid is she to ask with them stood right there? I can't believe it didn't occur to her that obviously Eric couldn't be caring and upfront in that situation, she knew how they reacted to Bill helping her, she was putting them both in a lot of danger loudly rambling about him caring for her.
Eric had to say what he did, aside from being annoying her attitude was about a second away from getting him staked. I like Sookie, and I know she was in a scary situation but she was stupid in this episode.
