Kayla’s POV

“Cheat!” Emmett shouted, throwing the controller down. He was careful not to throw it so hard that it might break.
“No I didn’t!” I shouted back. “You’re a sore loser!”
He stood up and I stood up. We narrowed our eyes.
“Let’s settle this,” he said. “One on one. Outside.”
“You’re on.”
“I don’t think so,” Rosalie, who had been watching us play the game, stood up and squeezed herself between us.
“Rose, don’t get involved,” Emmett said, trying to push her away.
“She’s pregnant, آپ idiot,” she smacked him across the head. “Sit down.”
He looked as if to argue with her but then sat down.
“You as well,” she said, turning to me. “You should know better.”
I snorted.
“Like he could beat me. I won the last two time we fought and this time I have a little added extra. My baby wouldn’t let him near me.”
A little nudge confirmed that.
“See,” Emmett said, standing up. “She’s cheating.”
“At what?” I said. “We’re not doing anything.”
“If we were going to fight آپ were going to cheat,” he grumbled and sat down again when Rosalie glared at him.
“Emmett,” I said, putting on a sad face. “I’m sorry.”
He refused to look at me so I sat down اگلے to him and put my arms around him.
“Emmett,” I said, again. “Baby loves you.”
The baby gave a little nudge of agreement but Emmett wouldn’t have been able to feel it. I unwrapped my arms and took one of his hands.
“Baby loves you,” I repeated, and placed his hand on my bump. There was a nudge of response and Emmett grinned ear to ear.
“I want to feel!” Rosalie کہا and sat on my other side, pressing her cold hand eagerly on my belly. The baby nudged again and Rosalie beamed. They both kept their hands on my stomach which excited my baby a little too much so the nudges actually hurt a little.
“Urm, can آپ please take your hands away?” I کہا to Emmett and Rosalie. “The baby’s getting a little too excited and-”
I let out a little gasp of pain which made Emmett and Rosalie whip their hands away.
“What’s going on in there?” Edward called. He was in the باورچی خانے, باورچی خانہ with Esme going over designs for the baby room. Where they were going to put a baby room I didn’t know, but Esme and Edward wanted it to be a surprise.
He walked in and I plastered a smile on my face , while trying to hide my thoughts. Unfortunately, Rose and Emmett didn’t.
It took a سیکنڈ for Edward to hear their thoughts and rush over to me.
“What’s wrong?” he said, while his hands frantically touched every part of me searching for an injury.
“Nothing,” I said, quickly, trying to push his hands away.
“We were touching her bump,” Emmett said, looking worried. “Feeling the baby kick.”
“Then she asked us to take our hands away because the baby was getting too excited,” Rosalie finished for him.
Edward looked at them both and then at me.
“I think the baby is doing مزید than just nudging you,” he said, looking at my bump which concealed our child.
“No,” I said, dismissing what he کہا with a wave of my hand. “The baby was just excited because Emmett and Rosalie were there. Nothing more.”
He raised his eyebrows.
“Really, Kayla?” he asked.
“Sure,” I said, stroking my belly. I got a little nudge, nothing painful.
Doubt clouded his eyes but I out stared him and he sighed, walking back into the باورچی خانے, باورچی خانہ to Esme. Emmett and Rosalie glanced at each other and then at me.
“Fancy another game?” Emmett said, picking up his controller.
I smiled at his distraction and retrieved my own controller.
“No cheating this time,” he laughed.
“Yeah.” I tried to laugh but failed. Worry filled up in me as Carlisle’s words floated back to me.
The strength that baby will possess will be incredible….it could kill you

Lexi’s POV

I turned the key in the lock of the hotel room and opened the door slowly. It was completely dark inside. I stepped in and shut the door quietly behind me.
“Hello?” I called out. “Anyone there?”
No reply. I reached for the light switch and flicked on the light. There was no one in the room. I walked over to the en suite bathroom and opened the door.
“Are آپ in here?” I called out to the darkness.
“You were gone a long time,” a pained voice called out from a corner. “I thought آپ weren’t coming back.”
I looked in the direction of the voice and saw him huddled in the corner of the shower. His legs were drawn up to his chest, his arms around them and his chin resting on his knees. His dark hair flopped over his eyes, just like always.
“Why would آپ think that?” I rushed over to him and sat اگلے to him. He lay his head on my shoulder and I stroked his hair. “I would never do that.”
“I’m just too much trouble for you,” he spoke.
“You’re never too much trouble,” I replied, continuing to stroke his hair in a bid to soothe him.
“Why were آپ gone so long?” he asked me. “You کہا آپ would only be an hour.”
“I’m sorry,” I said. “Uncle Charlie and I had an argument and I spent three hours in the forest cooling off.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, so, let’s get آپ a drink.”
“No.” He moved away from me so fast I was stroking thin air for at least three سیکنڈ before I noticed he was gone. I looked around the dark bathroom until I found him سے طرف کی the sink. He was staring into the mirror above it, gripping onto the sides of the sink.
“Don’t grip on too tight,” I warned him. “I can’t afford to pay for damages.”
He ignored me.
“Gabriel,” I walked over to him and lifted his hands away.
“How many times have I said, Lexi?” he spoke through gritted teeth, wrenching his hands away from me. “I don’t want to drink blood.”
“You can’t avoid it forever,” I said. “You need blood to survive. Otherwise آپ wouldn’t be a vampire.”
“I didn’t want to be a vampire!” A fist came down on the sink, obliterating it.
“Gabe!” I shouted. “What did I just say, آپ complete and utter fool!”
He looked at me, his eyes like black fire. His hands were still in fists and there was such rage emanating from him that I stepped back, momentarily afraid.
“Clean that up,” I said, quietly. I didn’t want to anger him anymore than I already had.
He turned his back on me and stalked out of the bathroom. He was back a سیکنڈ later with a bag and began to clean up the bits of ceramic that were the sink.
“If you’re not going to drink blood,” I spoke slowly and quietly. “Then آپ should at least get some control on your anger.”
Gabriel looked up at me, his eyes still full of rage. His hands clenched again and feeling my own anger rising, I walked out of the bathroom.
“Lexi.” Gabriel’s hand was on my shoulder. I shrugged it off.
I didn’t know where to go to exactly. I didn’t want to leave him like this. His thirst was too painful for him. He hadn’t had blood in months. How he was surviving for so long, I didn’t know. I knew that when left alone, he goes insane. He only has his own mind and his thirst for company. That burning ache in his throat. I knew what it felt like. It was constantly there, in the back of his mind. Everyday, I heard it.
I stopped walking, standing with my back to him. I was in front of the door.
“Don’t leave me,” he said, his voice was full of pain and sadness. “I’m sorry.”
“I’m not going to leave you,” I sighed. “And I know you’re sorry. You’re always sorry.”
I turned around and there he was, staring at me with big sad eyes.
“It’s not like I don’t know you’re suffering,” I کہا to him. “I do. I hear it, every منٹ of every گھنٹہ of every day.”
“I know,” he said, bowing his head. “And I’m trying not to think about it. I am. It’s just…”
“I know.”
He turned away from me, shoulders slumped. I reached out to him, putting my hand on his back.
“I’m a burden to you,” he said, quietly. “I know I am and I apologise. I don’t want to kill humans so I can survive. It doesn’t seem right. I know آپ don’t agree and I know that I should just accept it. It’s what I am now but I can’t.”
“You’re not a burden, Gabe.” I tried to get him to look at me but he refused to turn, so I went around him. “You’re not. آپ may be a lot of things but a burden to me is not one of them.”
He shook his head, refusing to look me in the eye.
“You should have left me to that vampire. آپ should have let her kill me.”
“Screw that!” I held his face between my hands so he had no choice but to look into my eyes. “To leave آپ there to die would be wronger than man boobs.”
I saw a smile form on his face and laughed, dropping my hands from his face.
“You can’t have a serious conversation, can you?” he said, laughing slightly.
“No,” I shook my head.
He crushed me to his chest so suddenly that I screamed. He only laughed at me which I didn’t complain about. It was rare he laughed. He needed to laugh more.
I wrapped my arms around him as tight as possible, trying to tell him how much I loved him. He got the message.
Love آپ too.
