“Yes, I’m alright.” Alek heard the false note his own voice. Tara caught it as well. her boyfriend had never been a very good liar.
“You sure?” she asked, her eyes scanning his drawn features. “You look pale.” Tara watched him shake his head slowly with a sigh of resignation. From behind his back he brought forth his left hand encased in a white towel inked with maroon. “Long day,” he admitted.
It was the brunet’s turn to shake her head, but in amusement, her lips tugging up with the same mirth. She slipped her hand gently into his and walked backwards, drawing him from the bathroom. Alek followed her willingly to the bed. As they sat back on the comforter, he surprised Tara سے طرف کی looping his arm around her and pulling her into his lap.
The familiar scent of her gardenia shampoo replaced the lingering smell of blood. She unwrapped the rag from his hand; like the light, soothing kiss of the breeze, Tara brushed her lips over the gashed knuckles.
