What you have to do is ask him his feelings about you i guess. If he has his heart set on something it may not work out your way sadly and i know you don't want that but this is something he has to decide.

Give him time for him to figure it all out himself, don't get too clingy while he's trying to think it all though since guys seem to hate that.

I think the one thing you cant do, is force someone to be with you. There's obviously a reason why she's his ex, but if he feels he wants to go back with her, I would let him. At the end of the day its his loss! Time will mend your heart and eventually you'll find someone who loves you for who you are :)
