Chapter 19: بھیڑیا Fight
Back at the sandstone cliffs, many, many years later, Adam had become a great leader. One of the greatest in the region, in fact. He was almost a fully grown wolf, just entering his twenties. He had led the pack for eleven years and things had been fairly peaceful since Steven left and the dens were complete.
But all of that changed one دن when word began to spread of a human who had recently gone on a killing spree throughout Canada. However, he hadn’t been killing other humans. He had been killing wolves, wiping out entire packs. The only name he was known سے طرف کی was “The Wolfslayer”.
This news worried Adam. This man had a reputation, albeit a fresh one, of leaving no survivors. The fact that his fame had grown as much as it did in so little time was also concerning. Adam suddenly became busy, trying to think of a way to prepare and protect the pack in case The Wolfslayer did happen to دکھائیں up. However, he soon became preoccupied with another matter, one far مزید personal.
The دن started out fine. The birds were singing, the sky was clear, and Adam was going about his دن when a scout returned from patrol with disturbing news.
“Adam,” the scout said. “There’s a بھیڑیا approaching. I tried to tell him to leave but he wouldn’t listen.”
“What’s he look like?” Adam asked.
“He’s big,” the scout replied. “About your size, maybe bigger.”
Adam looked into the forest where the scout had come from, then turned back to him.
“Don’t worry,” he said. “I’ll handle this.”
The scout nodded at Adam before walking away, back to inform the rest of the pack. Adam remained, however, waiting for the بھیڑیا to arrive. منٹ passed and Adam still waited until a shape began to appear from the woods. It was definitely a بھیڑیا and he was definitely big, close to Adam’s size. But as he approached, Adam suddenly recognized his scent. He knew this wolf. As it stepped into the clearing, Adam’s suspicions were confirmed. This wasn’t just any wolf. It was Steven.
“Well, well, look what we have here,” Steven said.
“Steven,” Adam replied. “You’re looking well.”
“No thanks to you.”
“You better turn back before آپ do something آپ regret,” Adam warned.
The two began growling at each other when Emily stepped in.
“Adam,” she said.
“What, he started it…when we were five,” Adam replied.
Emily sighed as the two continued circling each other.
“Yes, and it seems neither of us has let that go ever since,” Steven said. “I’ve finally put my life together after آپ ruined it.”
“After I ruined it?” Adam exclaimed. “I had nothing to do with that. We have bigger problems to deal with right now, like a psychotic بھیڑیا hunter wiping out entire packs across Canada. If we don’t stand together, we will all die.”
“Tried that once,” Steven replied. “Didn’t work out so well.”
“So,” Adam said. “Why are آپ here?”
“To settle a score,” Steven replied. “We never did have a fair fight last time. I figured it’s time for round two, and we will decide who is strong and who is dead.”
“Fine,” Adam agreed. Emily turned to him in shock.
“Adam, آپ can’t do this,” she said.
“Don’t worry, Emily,” Adam reassured her. “I’m not gonna kill him. But I am gonna kick his ass.”
“But what about you?” she asked.
“I was trained,” Adam replied. “He wasn’t.”
سے طرف کی now, a crowd had gathered, having heard about a بھیڑیا fight that was about to go down. They had formed a large دائرے, حلقہ around Adam and Steven.
“This where the party’s at?” Mick کہا as he moved up front. “Am I late?”
“Nope,” a بھیڑیا said, who was standing اگلے to him. “Just about to get interesting.”
“Good,” Mick replied. “I hate missing violence.”
The two encircled each other for a few مزید moments until, suddenly, Steven rushed at Adam. Adam did the same and the two leapt into the air. They collided with Adam knocking Steven to the ground. As Adam approached Steven, he was struck on the shoulder as Steven clawed him, leaving yet another claw mark.
Steven then proceeded to pin Adam to the ground with his jaws around Adam’s neck. Adam quickly turned and bit Steven on the tip of his ear, giving him a notch in it and causing him to let go. Adam took this opportunity to bite Steven’s leg, tripping him and making him fall over. Adam then got on سب, سب سے اوپر of him and held him down with a paw.
“Are we done?” he snarled.
Steven tried to get up, but he was forced back down سے طرف کی Adam, who applied his full weight onto Steven.
“Are we done?!” Adam snarled again.
“For now.”
Adam got off of Steven and let him go. The crowd surrounding the two parted as Steven began to leave. Just as he was about to head back into the forest, he turned back toward Adam.
“This isn’t over, Adam,” he said. “I’ll be back, and آپ won’t be so lucky اگلے time.”
“Can’t wait,” Adam replied as Steven disappeared into the woods.
Steven never did return, and the new Central Pack lived peacefully in the cliffs for years. The Central Pack soon joined the annual Great بھیڑیا Games in the Western Pack which was the first time that Adam and Steven had met since their fight. One year, however, Adam and the pack couldn’t attend the games as they were too busy fighting the group known as the Rogue Wolves. Had Adam been able to attend the games that year, he would’ve been reunited with Humphrey, who was coaching the western team, of which his own pups were part of.
However, Adam would continue on for another two and a half years believing his brother to be dead until one day, Humphrey would دکھائیں up to his den, lying on a log, bleeding from a bullet wound. Adam became a great leader over the course of his life, but his role in this particular story is now over.
