Here are Cult Fix’s hints and teasers for the 8th episode Merlin Series 5, The Hollow Queen. Review coming up soon.
Poor Merlin, we’ve never seen him in such a bad way!
For 95% of the episode Merlin is powerless to save Arthur
Mordred hardly features, again
Arthur’s got a case of bedhead
Gaius reluctantly becomes Arthur’s servant, with humourous consequences
Merlin uses telepathic speech at one point
Morgana’s ultimate weakness is exposed
Merlin’s gone to see a girl, apparently
We finally find out exactly who imprisoned Morgana in a flashback…
…There’s also an explanation of how Aithusa ended up deformed
Arthur is a cross-dresser
Merlin doesn’t need a sword
Someone unexpected comes to the rescue, twice
Merlin needs a walking stick
Someone will give their life to save another
*Seems like the flashback is going to be about Morgana, not Gwen. :(
I know. It's so annoying. I don't give a damn about Morgana. We already know that Sarrum imprisioned her. Big surprise. The episode is called the Hallow Queen and yet these reviews barely talk about Gwen. What the hell?
I did wonder about the title for 5.08 when I first saw it, since the episode seems more about other things. Seems more fitting for last week's. The queen is a big part, but there seems to be a lot else happening. Which is fine with me because we got a full dose of the evil!Gwen last week and I'd just as soon they go a little lighter on that and focus more on some other stuff.
Kinda thought the deal about whatever is wrong would be the focus of episode 9 anyway.
Well I wonder if the flashbacjs are just about Morgana, or will show how Gwen was put under Morgana's control.
Also Bonnie, in one of your comments you said that in the SFX review it talked about how Gwen is crying because of the story one of the guest stars tells her. I've been on the site and yet couldn't find it....
@Ella: Oh, that was just me speculating. He didn't directly say that was Gwen crying because of what the guest star tells her. Here's what he said: "One guest star tells a rum tale; another a chilling one that upsets the queen." So from that I just deduced that this might be related to the scene in the trailer where we see tears in Gwen's eyes.
