Avatar James Cameron's Message in Avatar

James Cameron said he was trying to tell us about "our relationship with the natural world at a time of nature deficit disorder."

This has also been the message at the heart of a UK environmental charity for the past 43 years - you can read about their philosophy here:

Do you think the film will lead to a massive change in the way we treat our planet?

Most likely not because there have been movies with these types of messages for years.

But they haven't been as successful. Either, no it won't matter.

I don't think it would be a massive change, but just a small step to realization of what we are doing. It just reminds us that we have to pay more attention to our actions towards nature. I think Avatar delivered this message better than any other movie.

No to me.
To me it feels that its just the same pretentious "white man is evil" bs that people keep spitting out.
Why couldn't James Cameron have made the message subtle instead of as obvious as a punch to the face?
I probably would have enjoyed it better if he did.
