Novels-wise, does anyone feel that Damon's true self comes out naturally when he is with Bonnie, whereas when he's with Elena, I feel like he is "forcing" his personality? I just feel like he can be totally open and be himself around Bonnie without even trying. This is the problem for Delena, whether it's the novels and the TV show. I don't think L.J. Smith was fired. I personally think that L.J. Smith quit. In regards to Book Bamon (and yes, even دکھائیں Bamon), I have always believed that while Elena certainly helped Damon on his spiritual journey, Bonnie was Damon's spiritual awakening. I mean, his wake up call to learning about love and compassion didn't just come out of nowhere. So IMO, Damon developed feelings for Elena because of Bonnie.
