She isn't nearly as helpful, funny, cute and lovely as Flounder.

Mrs. Potts is present the whole movie, calming down the beast, helping Belle, organizing the defence of the castle. Flounder is mostly useless for the second half because he can't leave the ocean.

@Swanpride I completely disagree about Flounder being useless in the second half of The Little Mermaid. He takes Ariel to the wedding boat (what was surely very exausting) and makes Flotsam and Jetsam let go of Eric. Plus, it's very heartbreaking when he cries seeing Ariel suffering for Eric's marriage. And during the first half, he takes Ariel to the surface and manages to get Eric's statue for her. Flounder definetely has to be in the TOP 10.

Mrs. Potts because she doesn't help Belle that much and Flounder is just my favorite out of the two.

wow great points everyone. flounder is just kind of a guppy... i give mrs. potts all the credit for the castle defense scene.

@Animaluce I'm aware that he brings Ariel to the ship - hence I wrote "mostly". He blends out for a large part of the movie, while most of the other characters left (except for Abu in his elefant form) doesn't.
Mrs. Potts is present for the whole movie - and yes, she helps Belle, by calming the beast down and by feeding her.

Flounder's adorable but I have to agree with Swanpride on this one.

@Swanpride I still think that you're wrong. Since Ariel turned human and Flounder helped her till Eric was going to marry Vanessa, only 20 minutes passed. Or less. However, I respect your opinion.

I hate her meddling with Belle and the Beast's romance. Plus she sang Beauty and the Beast and downgrading the song with her ugly voice.

Not Flounder. I love him. He does help Ariel a lot. He saves Ariel from drowning when she becomes human. Also he was during "Kiss the Girl". He also helped Ariel reach the boat and rescued Eric from Flotsam and Jetsam.

Not a flounder fan. I find his wimpiness more annoying than endearing.

I adore Mrs. Potts, she's so soothing, calm and sweet. Flounder is too whiny.
