2452. Bella is just so freakin' insulting to women. She is undeniably weak (and not just physically) she always gives in to what other people want of her (i.e. Edward) she never stands up for herself, and she just flat out insults women.
While the girls of Harry Potter are strong and girls everywhere can look up to them.

Okay, I think someone would notice something's weird when a group of guys run around with no shirts on even when it's raining and freezing cold outside. If a stupid girl like Bella can figure out that Edward's a vampire, I think smarter people would've figured that out wayyyy sooner... no?

2454. S.Meyer obviously knows nothing about literature. In Twilight, when Bella gets her reading list in English class, there's Shakespeare and several other well known authors there, I don't remember the details. Bella thinks to herself something along the lines of this "I glance over the list. I've already read everything, so it's pretty easing. And boring." Okay bitch! Some people devote their whole lives to studying just Shakespeare and still don't get bored! Gosh. Bella just pisses me off so bad.

^ As a feminist myself, I find Bella extremely insulting to my gender but I feel proud to share a gender with Hermione, Ginny, Luna, McGonagall, Molly Weasley, Tonks, and Bellatrix, so your point is correct. And about 2454, it's because Bella reads those books and doesn't understand the meaning at all so she doesn't bother trying to go in depth about it. But she's not allowed to have flaws, so Smeyer makes it seem like she's perfect for having already read those classics and "understanding" them.

^So true. Even when I was a Twilight fan I thought Bella's behavior and "independence" was sketchy. But I'm proud to role model Emma Watson and JKR and the girls in the books. They're STRONG and really are INDEPENDENT.

^^ In some of the books (HP) I disagreed with the decisions made my some of the characters but could understand why they did that. In Twish*te i just thought they were all thick - i did not understand why someone so weak could have the strength to die for her boy friend - there was no consistency, it was to badly written

Okay, it's raining where I live and I have nothing to do so I'm going to do a nice long comparison post :)

2457. Leah Clearwater vs. Severus Snape (unrequited love)
This is actually going to be a tough call because I actually really like Leah, she's one of only 2 female characters with potential for good development in Twilight. Anyway, I'll start with Leah. She was desperately in love with her boyfriend (fiance? I don't remember) Sam and he with her, and then he turns into a werewolf and has this imprinting business and leaves her for her cousin, Emily, who is practically her sister because they're so close. On top of this emotional blow, she later turns into a werewolf herself, making all of her private business and emotional feelings completely public to ten young men, one of them being her ex. Not exactly fun business, especially since she's still in love with Sam and everyone hates her because she's miserable, FOR GOOD REASON. Severus Snape, on the other hand, never had a chance with Lily. He loved her for years, when she only wanted to be friends, and then he had to watch her fall in love with James Potter, possibly the man he hated most in the world. Their friendship had broken up in fifth year, and so at this point he has to love her from afar. So, in his misery, he goes to work for Voldemort. However, the moment that Voldemort threatens Lily, he goes to Dumbledore and begs for him to help protect her. Even with the Fidelius Charm, Lily and James both die, leaving Harry alive with his aunt and uncle. Once Harry comes to school, Severus has to see every day the living proof that the woman he loved was in love with another man. For the next seven years, he does whatever it takes to protect Lily's son, and in the end, he dies for it. Okay, this is a really hard decision, and some people might disagree with me, but I'm going to say Severus Snape wins this round. While it's true that Leah had to deal with Sam knowing that she was so miserable, and Lily never knew about Severus, Leah also got to see her love every day, even if he was with another woman. Severus would have done anything to keep Lily alive, even if she was happy with another man. He risked his life countless times and lied extremely well to both sides to ensure that the son of the woman he had always loved be able to save the wizarding world from disaster and maybe even survive himself. In my opinion, Severus Snape went through much more hardship from suffering unrequited love than Leah Clearwater did.

2458. Esme Cullen vs. Molly Weasley (the surrogate mother to the main character)
This is such an obvious win, but I'll explain anyway. Yes, Esme is described as motherly and a kind person, and every appearance she had in the books supported this, but she wasn't developed. Like many of the characters in Twilight, Smeyer never gave Esme the development that she deserved. We're told that Bella sees Esme as her mother, and that's nice, but she also has her own mother, alive and well, to love. Consequently, Esme had potential to be a good motherly character, but Smeyer can't really pull off the "surrogate mother" thing because Renee Dwyer is alive, and caring (somewhat) for her daughter. Molly Weasley, on the other hand, takes a poor orphan boy into her home (during the summers at least) and cares for him in a way that he hadn't been cared for since he was just an infant with his parents. She pays no attention to the fact that she already has seven children and can't afford another, and the fact that he's incredibly famous for a mark on his forehead means nothing to her. We know from her actions (not by JKR simply telling us, like Smeyer did multiple times with Esme) that she wouldn't hesitate to risk everything for Harry, along with her other children, and the fact that she takes on Bellatrix Lestrange and wins proves that she was born to be a mother, and she protects her children with everything she's got. Therefore, Molly Weasley wins this round.

2459. The Volturi vs. Voldemort (the antagonist)
This is a quick one: The Volturi wants to be rid of the Cullens, but they would rather keep up their reputation of being kind and sympathetic than kill the people they want dead. Voldemort, on the other hand, gives up every chance to be normal to take over the wizarding world. He gathers people almost as evil as he is and gives them the tasks that are too lowly for him to deal with. Then, he plans brilliantly and succeeds in killing many people he wanted dead. He's an insane but brilliant psychopath and he would do absolutely anything (except die himself) to kill Harry Potter. If you're the kind of person who likes weak villains, then yes you would prefer the Volturi. But most people love deranged, evil, brilliant villains and so clearly, Voldemort is the better villain.

2460. Alice vs. Hermione (best-female friend of main character)
Alice was supposedly Bella's "BFF". This confused me. Again, going back to when I was a Twi-hard, I didn't think this was right. Alice never SHOWED Bella that she was best friend worthy. She just seemed like a 3rd wheel. She only interpreted things from the future that Bella couldn't understand. And Alice tried non-stop to change Bella into a girly girl. And Bella openly told her over and over and over not to and that it "just wasn't her style". However, Hermione shows Harry over and over that she loves him, as a friend, endlessly and risks her life to help him. Her name means "Pillar Queen". Because she "held u"p the guys and always helped them in the right direction. Everything from OWLS to the Prophecy, she was always strong and helpful. Never tried to change them. Better friend? I think so.

2461. On MLIT nearly all of the entries are voted as "needs more Twilight" (meaning it's not good). But on MLIHP and AW almost all the entries say "Expecto Patronum" (meaning it rocks)

They're probably better than MLIT though...I used to be addicted to the start of it all, MLIA, but then I cut it out of my life because I would be on it for about an hour or more each night catching up on 20 pages of stories and it kinda made it hard to finish my homework *and* get a good night's sleep haha (:

Because HP is in third person, JKR can give us glimpses into other parts of the plot that will make us suspicious and make us think (the chapter "Spinner's End" and "The Riddle House" and "The Boy Who Lived"). Otherwise, we would only know what Harry is seeing and thinking and we wouldn't have other perspectives to think about. In Twilight, all we get is Bella's simpleminded view of things. It makes it extremely boring.

2464. Smeyer just puts all these stupid little details into her book that we really don't need to know just so that her book will look bigger and it'll be better literature I guess? I mean, do we really need to know that Bella had a granola bar for breakfast? JKR on the other hand had some details that seemed like they were totally pointless but when you read on you realize that clue was crucial. Like in GOB, I don't remember who it was but someone spots a beetle during the Yule Ball and later it turns out to be Reeta Skeeter. JKR clearly planned that and didn't just sit at her computer and typed whatever crap came into her mind.

i think SM should learn to write Werewolves the way a British writer called Toby Whithouse does on a show called Being Human.

Also, on a personal note, I would probably not be alive if weren't for Harry Potter. And I'm not exaggerating. When my sister died last year, I didn't know what to do with myself I was a total wreck. But then I was looking through my sisters stuff and found my Harry Potter books. I decided to read them again and I felt like she was reading it with me :)

I know that sounds really sad, and a weird thing to put on here, but for some reason, I feel like I can put it on here without being judged or whatever...x
