I just went to the Terry Goodkind Official Website and I just found that he wrote a 12th book to the series, "Debt of Bones".

Right, I bought that and it is somewhat of a separate branch just discussing the boundary and how Zedd made it.

I just read the book and yes, what you say is true. It was a short book, but somehow it was interesting.
