Was OTH supposed to end on s4 finale?

This has been bugging me, because the finality of the s4 finale it was "the end" in many ways. Were they planning for the series to be over یا was it just the end of high school yrs?

Just curious if while originally air-dates s4 was supposed to be the last season.
