Well I'm not going to do your homework for آپ if that's what آپ were hoping, besides I read the book a few years پہلے so I don't remember the details; but think of it this way....

If it wasn't set in the 18th century how would that affect the story? If it took place in the future what technology could Jim have that would have changed the story (cell phones, better/faster boats, etc.). Would there even be pirates? Would Jim be مزید یا less willing to شامل میں them? If it took place in the future what medical یا weaponry advancements could they have that would have killed یا saved some of the characters?

Hope that gives آپ some ideas to start with.
