I don't know if you still need replies, but I love filling out surveys, so here are my answers:
- When did you start watching Buffy?
A month or so ago (as in February or March 2009)
- What attracted you to the show?
I had just seen "Repo! the Genetic Opera", and I found out that the actor who played the main character also played in Buffy as Giles.
- Were there any specific reasons you continued to watch the show, if so what are
they?
I've always liked the fantasy genre, and once I started watching the show, I found it quite charming.
- Do you, or did you, feel you can/could relate to any specific character, or
characters, on the show?
I think I relate most to Willow in the earlier seasons. I can appreciate her devotion to education, although I have never been as obsessed with school as she was. Also, I like the fact that she wasn't exactly clued in with the fashion world. :)
- Do you feel any of the characters on the show are role models for you or for
others?
All the characters have their flaws, as many know, but if any of the characters were to be a role model, I would have to pick Giles.
- Who are your favorite characters, why?
Giles: I love the fact that he's so book smart, but has very little knowledge of the outside world. Also, I like the fact that he can be awkward and bookish at one moment, and then in the next, doing something really cool and complicated-looking with a medieval weapon.
- Are there any episodes you feel you relate to especially well?
None really.
- What are your favorite episodes? Why are these your favorite episodes?
"I Robot, You Jane" - Had a lot of great Giles/Jenny moments, and it makes me feel better about being so paranoid about internet stalkers :).
"Something Blue" - It was hilarious, and had a lot of great Spuffy moments.
"Fear, Itself" - Simply because they went through all that for the ridiculously tiny demon.
"Chosen" - The fighting was epic, and it was the first fictional story that has made me sob in a long time, it made me sad that Spike and Anya died, but it was so well done, that I just have to love it.
- What are your least favorite episodes, and why?
"Normal Again" - If it wasn't left so open-ended at the end, it wouldn't freak me out as much.
"Seeing Red" has always been hard for me to watch, for obvious reasons.
- Are there episodes you feel are offensive, and if so why?
Not really, some are hard to watch, but none have offended me.
- Did your feelings or thoughts about any episodes change after two or more viewings, if so how?
Yeah, I can appreciate an episode more when I have gotten to know the characters, and I know when to look for the good parts.
- Has watching Buffy influenced your thoughts or feelings pertaining to issues presented on the show (e.g. homosexuality, wiccanism, death and dying etc.)
Not really, part of the reason why I watch the show is because I agree with much of what happens.
- Are there themes in the show you particularly like, or dislike, and if so why?
I like it in season 7, when Buffy and Spike forgive each other and learn to trust again.
