Songs From The Vampire Diaries Episode 6x14: Full Soundtrack! 

served up a heaping dish of pain, tears, and immense nostalgia. Though the supernatural drama was at an all-time low for once, real human grief was not; we not only said farewell to our beloved Jeremy Gilbert, who’s off to

“art school,” but we also witnessed the devastating death of the only

parent left in Mystic Falls — Sheriff Forbes.

That being said, considering how emotional the evening was, you better believe the soundtrack for

Season 6 Episode 14 was as well. The songs chosen to elevate each lugubrious scene in “Stay” were as beautiful as they were heartbreaking. Don’t believe us? Grab some tissues and scroll on down for a proper listen!

“Lampshades On Fire” by Modest Mouse: Plays when Damon and Elena meet with the Mystic Falls High principal to convince him to allow Jeremy to graduate early. It also plays when Jer Bear and his friends meet up at the Mystic Grill and send him on his merry way with rounds of shots and well wishes.

“Sweet Ophelia” by Zella Day: Plays when Caroline has a meltdown as she wonders what her mom’s last book will be. She just wants to make her mom’s final moments on earth stress-free and lovely, and Stefan calms her down by assuring her they will be.

“Yours” by Ella Henderson: Plays when Stefan assures that her mom’s final moments are not what matter, but rather the moments that led up to them. He also tells her he was so upset when she was angry with him at the beginning of the season, and Caroline informs him that she never really hated him. Then, with the sun shining in the background, they lean in slowly and share their first kiss on the porch of her family’s cabin.

“Alive” by Gabrielle Aplin: Plays when Damon tucks Liz into bed and makes a joke about her “hot” pjs. She laughs and tells him that is a disturbing statement. She then opens up and tells him there’s a certain peace that comes with dying a natural death in Mystic Falls, so she’s not freaking out. She thanks him for being there for her through good times and bad and ask him to write her eulogy and to leave out any dirty jokes. With great sadness in his eyes, he smiles at her and promises her that he will.

“Colour Me In” by Damien Rice: Plays as Sheriff Forbes dies. Right before she does, however, Caroline uses her vampire abilities to go into her mom’s mind to say goodbye. We see Liz teaching Care Bear how to ride a bike and telling her she’s ready to let go.
