Whatever her motivation, she kissed him!!! It was sweet and kind of perfect. And how cute/perfect/awesome was it when, after the kiss, he simply said, “thank you.”

Elena gave him a soft, sweet, innocent kiss on the lips. "Thank you," he said. "You’re welcome," she answered. Did آپ catch Damon's little smile? I thought that scene was lovely

I knew that Elena would forgive Damon before he died, because c'mon, it's Elena. But I really did not see her going in for the kiss. I thought Damon would be the one to kiss her

impressed that Stefan recognized the fact that Elena would probably need to see Damon before he died, and that he had the class and the strength of character to make her aware of it.

There’s a lot that happened in that moment, and season 3 is gonna be about exploring what it means to her, what it means to Damon, and certainly what it means to the Damon-Elena-Stefan relationship.

It felt very much that it was earned for Damon to finally get some kind of acceptance and compassion and reciprocation to the feelings he’s made very clear. He needed it, and Elena (Nina Dobrev) needed to give it to him.
