51 Years of Doctor Who: Decade Defining Moments
50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition Review (Part 1)
Jenna Coleman has possibly offered a hint on her Doctor Who future.
She was asked by Digital Spy how she would like Clara to be remembered and intriguing replied: “I don’t know yet. I don’t know. To be honest, it’s hard when you’re in the middle of it… We’ve still got the Christmas episode to come out.”
She adds: “But one of my favourite things about her is her sense of loyalty to the Doctor – she’s really the person who’s been with him right from the beginning, from Hartnell and all the way through, I think that’s pretty amazing, getting to work with Matt and Peter and a bit with David [Tennant], so that for me is a wonderful side to her.”
Elsewhere in the interview she said: “I think she’s addicted to [the Doctor] and the life and the TARDIS and I don’t think there’s really a way back for her now that she’s had a taste of this life and him. I don’t really think she could go back to just having a normal life again.”

It would make sense to have her come back occasionally because even though we\'ve known her for about 2 series\' Moffat made her a huge part of The Doctors life. Moffat could do with Clara in S9 what RTD did with Martha Jones in S4.
Clara needs to stay long enough to die. That\'s the only way things can work out. Without Danny here, something needs to happen to her, to remind the Doctor of the way things are..
I\'m glad the news on this subject is remaining ambiguous, and I really hope it stays this way. As agonising as it is to wait for Christmas, it\'ll all be worth it in the end. Well... that depends on what you hope will happen with Clara.
That does not sound like she is leaving hoorah
In Deep Breath, Clara was offered a place as part of the Paternoster Gang. It\'d be nice if that was how she exited the show, by taking up the job full time. However, It would mean leaving her family behind in the 21st century.
*curls up in my duvet and cries... cries... *sniffles* cries...*
At this point, I can\'t see Moffat staying quiet about Jenna leaving. I would think he and the BBC would be shouting it from the top of the Shard Building so as to attract the largest audience and largest ratings possible. They\'d be hyping it up big time.
Personally, I\'m going to keep my theory and just see what happens. I\'d really love it if she were staying but I don\'t think she is, and it\'d probably mean that she\'d die at the end since she would have had so many chances to leave (It\'d fit her character to die but I don\'t know how I\'d cope).
Then there\'s Orson. There have been so many hints this series about babies etc that I just feel it\'s leading somewhere and I really don\'t like the idea of time and his existence being rewritten. If another reason was given then I\'d love Clara to be in Series 9. But sadly I just don\'t see it happening. There\'s every chance that my \'findings\' are just red herrings, however I\'m sticking with my theory until it is either proved or disproved at Christmas.
I still think she\'s getting her own series. You could see Flatline being a test to see if Clara could carry a show. Her "companions" could be Courtney and the boy Danny let through the portal. It would be a variation of what Sarah Jane did.
She\'s clearly taken vagueness lessons from the Moff.
I\'d quite like to see Capaldi with a new companion now, but I do love Clara, so I\'m kind of half and half.
I dont know why people cant just wait and see
I really hope she stays. Jenna is incredible, and Clara is easily my favourite companion. :D
I just realised: It\'s Doctor Who\'s 51st anniversary tomorrow, and Clara\'s Birthday!
Please no! Can\'t take any more sadness after Death in Heaven!
@The MasterDoctor I actually don\'t! I mean, if she leaves in the Christmas episode then really it wouldn\'t add a lot to the ratings. Christmas episodes generally have 25% more viewers than regular episodes. Even with Amy and Rory leaving it didn\'t add too much to their last episode. I think he\'d keep it a secret for it to be a shock, which would get people watching it after, on iPlayer and such. And of course, Santa being there is already hyping it up.
@darrynlee1 Either that or it was a test run for a female Doctor. I thought Clara reminded me a lot of Sarah Jane in that episode, and I love the Sarah Jane Adventures, so if that\'s in the works for the character, it gets two thumbs up from me! There\'s so much they could do with her character, so long as she doesn\'t die this Christmas. Fingers crossed!
@Malohkeh Not sure if that\'s sarcasm or not... didn\'t seem that vague to me lol.
@Malohkeh She\'s clearly graduated from the Moffat School of Trolling and Misinformation with a triple first ;)
@Malohkeh Moffat= Palpatine Jenna = Darth Vader.
@Americanwhovian Agreed. That is, after all, all we can do. Speculation isn\'t going to change anything, or make Christmas come faster.
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Hang on, so proper Clara Oswald was born on the 23rd Novenmber? Clara Oswin Oswald was on born 23rd November too! No clue about Oswin, but do you think all of Clara\'s echoes were born on 23rd November? It\'s a weird coincidence!
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Oh my...is it really one year on from Day of the Doctor? D: Blimey where does the time go..
@Master No More @ElyotWren Excellent, Missy. Good work.
That\'s likely due to them being stand-alone, sans-regular-companion, stories. Viewers needn\'t know anything about DW to enjoy them, and entire families are in one place, looking for children-friendly activities, which usually means telly.
@NotsoSmartguy @Malohkeh Ah, I see we\'re back to the Darth Oswald thing again! Or should I say Darth Coleman!
@LGwalchmai95 @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Headcannon accepted! :D
@LGwalchmai95 @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing It\'s really hard to wrap you\'re head around the Clara echoes! Did all of them live full lives? I.e. they were born, grew up etc?
@supermoff @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Out of curiosity, did the 50th take place on the 23rd of November in-narrative?
@supermoff @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing ...in the vortex I guess. XD
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing @NotsoSmartguy @Malohkeh "Darth Coleman" sounds pretty epic actually :P
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing @supermoff That\'s...a good question. Seeing as there was no mention of "happy birthday" from the Doctor to Clara at any point (assuming he\'d remember such a thing) I suppose not...:s
@supermoff @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing You would\'ve assumed so, but you\'re right, no mention of Clara\'s Birthday. Though that could be why he wanted to take her for cocktails on the moon!
@supermoff @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing I\'m not even sure what year it was tbh... :s
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing @supermoff Oooh I like your thinking Lazy Cat :)
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing @supermoff It could\'ve been the reason, but I think he would have said happy birthday if it was the case...
@TheCyberDoctor @supermoff @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Name of the Doctor took place in April 2013, and Clara became a fully qualified teacher between that date and the time whenever the Day of the Doctor takes place (she may have already been qualified though, to be fair, or very near to qualifying), so it\'s possible a lot of time has elapsed. In the Forest of the Night took place in 2016 and that was contemporary for Clara, so I reckon Day of the Doctor took place closer to Forest than Name, so maybe 2015 or something. Just speculation of course :s
@supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Clara was born 23rd November 1986, as stated by cyber-Danny in DiH, making her 28 tomorrow, and she was 27 in Deep Breath according to Strax\'s gadget. This series in \'present time\' (The Caretaker etc) is this year, unless the Doctor missed a whole year of her life without word between then and the rest of the series, which is unlikely because she\'d have had a go at him for that. In ItFotN, I think the Doctor was just giving an example year and not being literal. And the TPoT time issue... well, that was back then and the Doctor has time travelled back an forth in time since then so I don\'t think that can count anymore.
@supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing I\'ve always thought she was fully qualified in The Bells of Saint John and was going travelling (to the places in the 101 places to see book) on a gap year or something before starting work, and then she met the Doctor and went travelling the universe instead, and decided she wanted to start work and got a job as a teacher shortly before The Day of the Doctor. Headcannon I think it\'s called!
@supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing There\'s also fact that she had a fringe on her first day at Cole Hill, but it wasn\'t there in Day... very poor hair continuity! :-P (I know it\'s because of filming timings)
@supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing That would make sense :)
@ElyotWren @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing In TBOSJ the year was 2013. in her \'101 Places to See\' book, she marked off every year since she received the book at age nine, except for 16 and 23. The last mark was 24. Since she stated she was the kids\' nanny for a year, it would make since that she was born in 1989, with her not putting in an entry for her mom\'s and the Maitland\'s mom\'s death. When Danny said 1986, it didn\'t make since.
@ElyotWren @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Awww, and there I was, happily assuming that Clara was 24 in
and was traveling with the Doctor for about 3 years prior to
@LGwalchmai95 @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Ooh that works perfectly. I still think there\'s a significant time jump between Name and Day though, but I think that\'s perfect for extended universe stuff (to be filled in at some point) :)
@LGwalchmai95 @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing That makes perfect sense.
@LGwalchmai95 @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing She\'d gone to Uni so you\'re right, she probably did have the qualifications she needed.
@The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing @supermoff @TheCyberDoctor I always justify poor hair continuity (like Capaldi in Flatline) with wibbly-wobbly hairy-wairy :P Though yes, that\'s very true about her fringe, good spot :)
@supermoff @LGwalchmai95 @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing Didn\'t Moffat say that he leaves significant gaps to be filled in later...
@supermoff @LGwalchmai95 @TheCyberDoctor @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing I like to think that Clara had a period of time recovering from the time-stream, with the Doctor rehabilitating her and helping her with her memories etc. I\'d also love to ask Moffat how Clara got the ability to operate the TARDIS doors...
@TheCyberDoctor @supermoff @LGwalchmai95 @The Lazy Cat is Sleep Typing I love how he\'s done that. There\'s SO many gaps to have some Matt Smith stories in the future for audios and stuff, as it was well established that he wandered off and had adventures while the Ponds slept, and there\'s the time after The God Complex when the Ponds were at home and coming in and out during Series 7. There\'s the time between Wedding and Wardrobe and there\'s Trenzalore, as well as the gaps between when he drops Clara off and picks her up again! Trenzalore has helped Matt come back in the future, as it doesn\'t matter if he\'s uch older looking, as they can just be like "Oh I\'ve been on Trenzalore for 400 years" yadda yadda yadda. And there\'s gaps for Clara too, like when she\'s not travelling with the Doctor, who knows what could have happened that she forgot and the stuff mentioned by others. There\'s loads, I love how Moffat\'s done that!
