It's really ironic that DE'ers spent 3 seasons worrying that Delena would never happen, and only a few weeks پہلے were considering quitting altogether, but now DE are finally on the horizon, some شائقین are even مزید afraid in case the writers plan to take them away and replace them with Stelena. This suspicion and paranoia is the result of having Delena continually derailed and pulled out from under our feet for the past 3 years every time things looked good. The only way some DE'ers have learned to stay afloat and survive the constant onslaught has been to adjust their attitude from happy, excited shipper to the مزید pessimistic 'Let's-Expect-The-Worst-And-Hope-It-Won't-Happen.' But some شائقین take it to extremes. To them, it doesn't matter that Elena and Stefan have broken up, یا that Stefan obviously would prefer it if Elena was human, یا that DE have got closer and Elena's feelings for Damon are way مزید intense than before. SE's break-up is nothing but a mere dent on the glittering avenue leading to SE's happily ever after. They believe that if the writers are giving us Delena now, then it's nothing but a cruel trick which will ultimately lead to their demise, and the permanent re-establishment of Stelena as the 'supreme' couple.
I think we should forget everything that Julie, Kevin, Nina etc, have کہا about Delena and SE. Yes it's true that they've all cast doubt on DE at one time یا other. Yes it's true that Kevin and Jules have described SE in gush-worthy terms, but that was IN THE PAST. SE were a couple then, but times have changed, and so has the show. Unfortunately, their quotes have been taken out of context and made to sound مزید important یا relevant than they are, thus leading SE'ers to assume a superior air over DE. "Let them have Delena now," is their patronising tone. "They won't last مزید than a couple of episodes, and Stelena will be back together سے طرف کی the end of the season." Sadly, it looks like a number of our fanbase believe them. Let me tell آپ something - and I'm not in confidence with the producers - but I KNOW this WON'T happen.

The writers staved off from throwing DE together in S3, and from Elena cheating on Stefan in 4x04, so they will most certainly NOT script a Stelena reunion on the back of a Delena break-up, should it happen, which it might not. I knew when SE failed to consummate their relationship in 4x02/3 that it was a warning sign that Stelena would end soon. My instincts were right. The producers will be very conscious of the moral minefield they are walking on. This is not an ordinary love مثلث where the guys are best دوستوں یا arch-enemies; this is a love مثلث where the 2 men vying for the girl's دل are brothers, and the last thing Kevin and Julie want is for her to get a 'bad' reputation, if آپ catch my drift. In these types of stories, the girl always has مزید to lose. In this situation, it would be nearly impossible for Elena's reputation to remain untarnished, یا for شائقین to forgive her. If DE were to break up and Elena went back to Stefan, then it would look totally trashy and cheap. Elena would look fickle, indecisive and cold-hearted. In the end, آپ wouldn't be able to believe anything she said. If she loved Stefan all the time, then why did she choose Damon? Can't she tell the difference between what feelings are real and which aren't? Why did she want to have a relationship with Damon before she could figure out she was still in love with Stefan, when before, she was saying that her feelings for Damon were stronger than what she felt for Stefan? And doesn't she care what she's doing سے طرف کی playing with both their hearts and breaking them? "What a کتیا, کتيا she is," we'd say. "She doesn't deserve either of them."
I'm not exaggerating. The consequences of an SE reunion in the same season DE finally get together (and when I say 'get together', I mean sleep together), and break up would be horrendous. It would be the worst thing the writers could do to all three characters. I don't know why SE'ers would want this for their ship. It's cheap, tacky, horrible, and just plain wrong for everyone involved, including Stelena. That's not even taking into account why Stefan would want Elena back after she passed him over in favour of his older brother, (you'd think he would have مزید self-respect than that), یا what it means for the show, creatively. OK, so worst case scenario: Elena has a relationship with Damon, discovers she doesn't want to be with him anymore/still loves Stefan, dumps him, and Stelena get back together. Then what? They obviously can't pick up the pieces of their romance and carry on as if it's Season 1. A Stelena reunion isn't moving آگے and giving us anything new, it's going backwards, and that's not what the producers want. If a دکھائیں doesn't change, then it stagnates. The writers could use DE's relationship to add مزید drama to Stelena, and make them darker and grittier, but they had plenty of chances to do that in Season 3, and pretty much wasted every one of them. The producers either don't know how to give SE مزید depth یا don't care to. Whichever it is, I think that most SE'ers don't actually want to see SE being darker and grittier anyway, and I can't see Delena being used as a plot device because they are too big and important for that.

Julie knows that no matter what, she'll never be able to please everyone. But she and the rest of the producers don't have anything to gain سے طرف کی giving the SE'ers want they want, other than making them happy. From a plot and character point of view however, she has much مزید to lose, and she and Kevin have proved that they are not going to shy away from doing something that they know will make شائقین upset. (Think of the end of 2x01). For the past 3 years, they have been telling us "It's about a love triangle..." but it has mainly consisted of SE loving each other, and Damon loving Elena. The growth of the love مثلث was severely stunted because Elena was with Stefan, and they couldn't explore her feelings for Damon in any real depth. They have the remaining 3 seasons to turn that around. Therefore, they have no reason to postpone Delena again and bring SE back. In fact, they have every chance of sabotaging the دکھائیں if they do. The love مثلث CANNOT GROW as long as Elena is with Stefan. So unless they want to ruin the love مثلث and Elena's character for good, then I can't foresee SE getting back together. For the past 3 years, they have been دکھانا us a trailer for a movie we never got to see. Now it's time for them to get serious. The love مثلث has got to finally get off the ground and it has to happen this season. The integrity of the producers, the دکھائیں and Elena depends on it.

I am not saying that Season 4 will be easy. It won't. It never is. I'm not saying that there will be no مزید Stelena, یا even that DE will finally become a couple and stay together this year. But I think a lot of شائقین are worrying unnecessarily. I mean, think about it: Elena sleeps with Stefan, then Damon, then Stefan again...? It's bad enough that we have to contend with people calling her a slut when she's only slept with Stefan so far. Regardless of having feelings and being in a relationship with both boys at different times, going back and forth from one brother to the other is icky and morally reprehensible. And that's why a Delena love scene in S4 works in our favour. It works because afterwards, the chances of Stelena getting back together at a later time in the series and being endgame is decidedly diminished. Because once آپ choose Damon, آپ can't go back.
